Red Hair

Rita Hayworth is naturally a brunette but looks lovely with red hair and blonde as well as her natural color. :)

Most of you may not know who this Canadian actress is but I present to you...

I love red hair. Most of the women I've dated were redheads, as was my wife. I don't understand this whole Anti-ginger thing. There are website dedicated to the notion that redheads are somehow inferior, and less than human. They're hateful and bigoted, and give off a vibe that feels as one imagines an antisemitic KKK or neo-Nazi site might feel.

Here's a good example, actually. Generally speaking, I don't find Kirsten Dunst terribly attractive, but as redheaded Mary-Jane Watson in the Spider-man movies? She's smoking! I honestly don't understand it, because I normally quite like blondes (my girlfriend is blonde, for example).

Emphasis on the short (to medium) length here. Long-haired redheads do nothing for me.

My brother is a redhead. Curls, freckles, the lot. I've got the curls, but brown.

About two years ago, when I had red hair, I had a man come up to me at Shore Leave and compliment me on my hair.

So I guess some men do like red hair!

*

I always would look twice, nay thrice at a handsome red-headed man. The two usually don't go together (handsome and red-headed man) but when they do, WOWSA!!

Used to tell the husband I'd dye his hair red! With his green eyes and height? :luvlove:

Love redheads myself!

Seconding the Karen Gillan love (redhead and Scottish... oh man...) and many of the other redheads here

As to the anti-redhead bias (bah!), I always figured it went back to the "Celts are barbarians" thing and thus redheads are more hot-tempered, less smart, more passionate, etc. - hence the reputation for temper

And unwanted/uncared for too, hence "I'll beat you like a red-headed stepchild."

Don't know if she's a "real" redhead (though I'd love to find out), Simone Simons of Epica. She's also mind-bogglingly talented as a singer.

Hair color doesn't really matter much to me one way or the other compared to other factors, but yeah, there are some gorgeous redheads out there.

Besides the ones already mentioned, I like Lauren Ambrose from 'Six Feet Under':

And Alicia Witt:

I'm afraid that I don't find redheaded men attractive, but there is an exception to everything, and for me he's the British actor Clive Wood.

Brigid Regan, who played Kailin (sp?) on 'Legend of the Seeker', is actually a redhead. They dyed her hair brown for the role.

I find red hair as attractive as I find any other color. I guess hair color isn't a major factor in my consideration, though its shape and length matter a bit more. Sometimes I find myself turned off by blond hair, but usually only when the person who has it reminds me in other ways of some people I'd rather forget.

I go for redheads in a big way.

This far in, I'm surprised no one has mentioned Nicole Kidman yet. Amy Adams appears as a particularly good looking redhead in both Enchanted and Night at the Museum II: Battle of the Smithsonian and is absolutely gorgeous. Even though it's not her natural hair color, Kate Winslet has appeared as a redhead and is particularly attractive as one. Norma Jean Baker (aka Marilyn Monroe) also looks to be originally redheaded.

Other attractive redheads through the years include:

Isla Fisher ()
Katherine Hepburn
Lucille Ball
Gillian Anderson

Ask almost anyone who knows me, and they'll tell you right out how redheads have long been a great weakness for me. So many of my current favorites have already been mentioned (Gillan, Hendricks, Isla Fisher, Ann Margaret, et al). But this magnificent obsession of mine goes back even farther: Tina Louise, Maureen O'Hara (thank you scotpens !! ), Rhonda Fleming.

Gillian Anderson is one I never cared that much for until later in her career. Interesting.

Redheads I like who are no longer or are returning to redhead status: Nicol Kidman, Kate Winslet
