Red Dawn remake in the works...

Islamic terrorists invade the US and cause chaos. But Hollywood wants to cover it up in the name of tolerance and diversity, so they make it look like Mormon terrorists did it instead.

Red Dawn: BYU

Russia works behind the scenes to get the nations of OPEC to follow Russia in playing games with the supply of oil to hurt the US and Europe.
Too much explanation, too much thinking. Think with your gut, that's what'll sell it. Your gut should tell you "forget the fuckin Russkies, go with the Muslims." If your gut says anything else, you need a new gut.

I'm a realist, and while the islamofascists do represent a threat to short term safety of specific population centers within the US, they will never represent a true threat in a "end of the nation invasion" sense. See, outside of a pandemic plage attack, there is little direct threat to the nation from them.

Now a far more serious threat is from two points. One, a counter nation or supernational group looking to insert itself into the global stage by picking a fight with "the biggest guy in the yard". And as of right now there are only two threats like that on the global stage. Russia and China. Of those two the more likely right now is Russia.

The other threat point is from a Mega-Corporation deciding that it wants to take on the current national setup and assert itself as a power player in the global scale as a "nation unto it's self". This is a really interesting line to go down, and is very deserving of it's own movie... However, it runs counter to the original intent of the "Red Dawn" storyline of a post invasion resistance by the unlikely source of a group of late teen early twenty kids.

Out of the two likely sources for "attack" against our nation in the sense of an "invasion" with a post invasion occupation resistance, the first of the two is the better choice.

Now, the concept of war over political ideal is dead. Now every war is about money and power. So like I said, right now both are heavily vested in the oil industry. Where are the oil centers, the mid east, central and south america, alaska and western canada.

Russia trying to control the worlds oil is a conceivable spark to start the flame of WWIII, or IV, or V... what ever we are really up to.

So, perhaps my gut is just tuned to a different channel, but it doesn't see the islamofaschists being any more of a threat to the nation than a mosquito is to a person, and is much more likely to get used by one of the real threats as a tool or weapon to further it's agenda.

Screenwriter Carl Ellsworth has been hired to rewrite MGM's Red Dawn, the ultimate homeland invasion story about a new generation of besieged high schoolers...

"The tone is going to be very intense, very much keeping in mind the post-9/11 world that we're in," says Ellsworth, "As 'Red Dawn' scared the heck out of people in 1984, we feel that the world is kind of already filled with a lot of paranoia and unease, so why not scare the hell out of people again?"
So. What do you think?
The first one was pretty funny but without the cold war, a remake would be a hard sell. It was one of the most memorable comedies of the 80s though.

They should go the ironic route and have the US face an uprising by actual wolverines. Genetically engineered wolverines, with frickin' laser beams on their heads.

Otherwise a remake is a terrible idea.

When they do these sort of remakes, don't they usually flip the genders around? Red Dawn with an all-female cast?

Red Dawn takes on an entirely different meaning in that context.

America faces its deadliest threat in at least a month.

Anticommunism has never, never gone out of fashion. The bourgeois can never long suppress the fear the lower classes might catch on. As the capitalists steal billions and billions more, anticommunist blood lust appeals to the nouveau riche Hollywood stooges. And whatever the actors might be, most of the studio people are Republicans or conservative Democrats.

Does this mean the two female roles would be reversed as well?

You know, I strangely wouldn't mind being taken to live in the woods with hot gun toting babes to protect me

^ So Red Dawn, starring Blake Lively, Emmy Rossum, Eliza Dushku, Grace Park, Alicia Witt and Megan Fox, with Justin Long and Shia LaBeouf as the wimpy helpless boys who throughout the movie learn to become men?

Red Dawn was great, as a matter of fact I just rewatched it for the umpteenth time a few days ago. I hope they remake it decent and not ruin it. Personally I think it should be left alone, but that is just me.

I just hope it dont turn out like the Rollerball remake. The 1970's Rollerball is outstanding the remake is utter doo doo!
