Now - ADULT Spock, yes, in some tight close-ups you can see little red veins in the corner of his eyes...but alas, that's what you get when you have to cast a human actor - all the Vulcans turned down the role.

Well, there's only so many Vulcan actors remaining that they can afford to pick and chose roles.
