Yeah. Better to put down a book or series you're not into than force yourself through something just for the sake of getting it done.

I actually picked Summon the Thunder back up last night, before crashing. I'm now a chapter in, and already loving it. I don't know why i'd been resisting the series so much. I'm also continuing the Typhon Pact series with Plagues of Night.

I resisted Vanguard for years. I was unsure if I'd be able to get myself involved with a bunch of new characters. Now I love it. I have two Vanguard novels to go until the big finale.

Update: Just started reading "That Which Divides" by Dayton Ward, suffice to say I am honestly finding it an interesting read.

I'm reading the 'Vulcan's Souls' Trilogy book series at the moment. I'm finding it very engaging. I never really thought much into the vulcan mythology/history, as I primarily got into trek with the TNG series. This series (i'm still on the first book), talks of the era when Vulcan's were very much like humans. They had a nuclear civil war which caused the age of enlightenment of logic, to the now vulcans we know now and the split and exodus of the race to romulus and Romulan star empire. Very interesting so far, jumps between 2 timelines, between and after dominion war and the ancient vulcan civil war.

Very interesting and engaging, I would recommend.

The Vulcan soul trilogy is really interesting look at the Vulcan culture. I read all of the books in this series and liked them.:):techman:

Awesome! I love Vulcan's :D and I would definitely be interested in reading actual details about their history/mythology since we only got a few tastes in ENT and TOS!! :D

I don't know the Vulcan's Soul trilogy yet. It is on top of my priority list.

But two other novels are highly recommendable: Vulcan's Forge and Vulcan's Heart by Sherman/Shwartz. :vulcan: :rommie:

Saying in advance would spoil some of the fun; suffice it to say that a lot of awesome TOS and TOS-movie characters show up.

The series is universally fantastic though. Start and you'll be hooked right away.

What's sad is, i own all 8 books, i burned through the first book. Then i just never keep going with the series. But then when certain TV characters sail off into space at the end of the first book, i just have no desire to get back into the rest of the series. But i really need to, because i've been craving 23rd century stories lately.
I've never understood that kind of an attitude. Do not read original fiction? Just because Vanguard is a Star Trek series, doesn't mean you can't just approach it like you would a non-tie in series.

^ It's not a big deal. There are lots of reasons people put down a book or a series and then fail to return to it. It doesn't represent any kind of a failing or flaw. Sometimes these things just happen. No need to guilt folks over it.
Oh, no I didn't mean to guilt him over not going back to the series, I've just always found it confusing when people say they don't have interest in a book without familiar characters in it. At one point all characters we are familiar with now would have been unfamiliar character.
