Recommend some Fan Fic

Just getting back in the swing of things after a hectic spring and summer. All I can do is to echo the fine recommendations. Besides Gibraltar's, CeJay's, BrotherBenny's, DarKush's, and Zephram Cochrane's fine stories, I would recommend Nerys Ghemor's for his originial and rich take on the Cardassians, and Rush Limborg has a fine story out now. Also, mirandafave is a fine author and Robert Scorpio comes up with some of the most interesting--and originial and out of the box--takes on Trek I've yet read.

In short, there are a lot of fine authors here, so indulge yourself! :)

I've been working on one, which I need to update since I've got quite a bit more material, that I've been trying to make a little more gritty. While I wouldn't say its of high quality yet, I think its pretty good and would welcome the comments and crits. Just go through my user page and find all the threads started by me in the fanfic section. Probably easier that way.

Anyway, shameless advertising out of the way. I'd have to say Nerys, Gibralter, BB, DarKush, whoever wrote Supermax (can never remember who, just know the story is great) There's probably more then I could list really.

Supermax! I'd forgotten all about that one ... that's great stuff and definitely gritty. It's like the "Oz" of Star Trek.

He made it through the surgery fine, and we'll probably get him home on Friday if he continues to progress well. Thanks for all the well wishes. It's much appreciated.

As for gritty fan-fic, a lot of Gibraltar's and Miranda Fave's fiction fits the bill, particularly the Gibraltar series (multiple) and those following the Kestrel. Kes7's, Nerys Ghemor's, and Mistral's stories are all great. I wouldn't say gritty per se, but they explore some darker themes. Anna Amuse has a very gritty style. I'd say explore Ad Astra. There's a lot of good stuff over there, and the standards are high from the get go.

My best wishes for the little one as well, PSG. And just so I'm not a shameless self-advert, I'll offer praise for Nerys Ghemor's cruel Bajorans AU.

Whoa, I dunno how I left off Supermax! If you want gritty HBO stuff, that's definitely it. The author would be Camelopard, BTW.

PSGarak--SO glad to hear he came through OK!!! :D

And to the rest of you guys, thank you so much for the recommendations. :)

PSGarak,

I just wanted to say, I hope everything goes well with your pet. Take care.

And every time I hear the name, I do a facepalm action and yell "Duh!" Then next time it comes up, I once again can't remember. Such is the swiss cheese of my mind.

Anyway, I think I missed something... Whats going on PSGarak?

Sorry, I suggested Anna Amuse-I meant Alara Rogers. Here:

This is pretty grim and gritty stuff. Check it out.

Oh, YEAH. As grim as anything written by just about anyone, including Mohiro Kitoh (a manga author) and I mean that in a good way. The twist in my verse has always been that things are gone/going to Hell, but it looks on the surface so much like ST we've known, no one quite gets it. In Alara's world, it is up in their faces, and sometimes its a spear straight through them.

Good thoughts for your pet! :techman:

But we do already have a thread to recommend fan fiction stickied at the top of the forum, so closing. :)
