Recomand some boards dealing with SW EU.

So what's the deal with the supposed move? A friend of mine does not believe it is going to happen, thinks they are just stalling on it because no one is going to pony up the money.

What I heard is that TFN has not accepted new members for 6 months and that the move was discussed well before that. Sounds like it's going down the gurgler (or the trash compactor).

Someone told me a few days ago that IGN is going to pull the plug. They're going to set up a new "temp" board where everyone will have to re-register their accounts and start over. Once the new "permenate" [sic] server is set up, all the data and accounts from the old board will port over to that and people will be able to log in with their old accounts.

I think registration and password retrieval has been gone for about a year, at least a good portion of that long. There was a trick running around a while back where someone would PM or post a link saying it was a link to the "new boards" and when you clicked it logged you out. If you didn't know your pass, you were just fucked.

So if I understand correctly OP was sock puppeting and got banned for that. And then let back and got banned for wasting storage space.

TFN allows you to have sock-puppets, they don't really care about them so long as you're (1) up front about it (2) Don't use 'em to troll. But if you're banned, you're banned. You can't use a sock-puppet to come back to get around the ban or register a new account to get around the ban..

The rules

7. No troll/flame sock posting. Gimmick or humor sock posting is okay, but evil sock posting (ban circumvention, flaming someone "anonymously," etc.) is not allowed. Please note, this also includes creating socks to flame yourself as well as others. Any inappropriate sock usage can lead to a ban on both the sock and the main user account

....

1. Bans can come in, essentially, three levels.
Short Term Bans, which means you did something to earn you a vacation from the forum, but nothing so bad you need an indefinite ban. These run anywhere from a day to a matter of months and shorter bans tend to turn into longer bans for repeat offenders. Posting with a sock during a ban will increase the ban duration.

Indefinite Bans, which means you've broken the rules enough that you're banned until we think it's time for you to come back. Constantly asking about when you can come back will not help your case, though the occasional check-in every three months isn't out of line. Posting with a sock will turn it into a permanent ban.

Permanent Ban, which means that you're gone for good. Sock posting to revisit will be considered spam and may result in the JC administration contacting your ISP and reporting it as such.

Thay have much stricter rules then Trekbbs.

Yes, "Stop doing that thing we've told you repeatedly to stop doing" is very strict.

Basically this ^

If someone was [perma]banned here and kept trying to get back in, 'Bonz would have their heads on a pike. When you're banned from a site, just wait it out and don't keep pissing 'em off. Odds are that given enough time, even a perma might get overturned unless yo're pissed them off in the interim.
