These are my reasons I think Be'lanna and 7 make the perfect couple.
    1. 7 of 9 being borg enhanced would be able to handle anything Be'lanna threw at her allowing Be'lanna to let go completely and not hold back.
    2. Be'lanna is brilliant so is 7 of 9 they can have conversations that most of voyager would be hard presses to keep up with including Chakotay Janeway and Tom
    3. Opposite often attract Be'lanna's passionate fire nicely complements 7's cool ice
    4. Be'lanna has trust issues and feels inadequate 7 has no need of deceit and is extremely kind loyal and willing to sacrifice for the well being of those around her. All Be'lanna's fears would be unfounded with 7 and laid to rest
    5. Both being halfbreeds can understand each other and what it really feels like to struggle with both
I have alot more but this is getting kinda long. What do you guys think?

I'll always be a Seven/Barclay guy at heart, but I do find the idea of Seven/B'Elanna intriguing...

(Also, please stop misspelling "B'Elanna"; it hurts my eyes. :p)

It would work if Seven had a sexual attraction to B'Elanna but I like the Torres/Paris romance so the answer for me is noish.

Maybe it could work but probably not, let alone probably better.

"Opposites attract" is done a lot without, I think, actually being a particularly interesting or even necessarily believable dynamic. More likely Torres would continue to be irritated by Seven's iciness, by her aloofness+bluntness.

Paris/Torres had been set up so much for so long it felt a bit inevitable but it would also feel at least arbitrary to dump the relationship. Although maybe this is inconsistent for me as I think Torres could have instead, despite the build-up for them, gone for Harry in season 3 or 4 instead of Tom.

Seven would have had to have been written pretty differently for a while, becoming a lot less standoff-ish a lot earlier, for the relationship to work.

I think that during the Berman/Braga/UPN era, any pairing of two female characters would have been done solely to pander to the audience's lowest common denominator. There would be lots of sexy outfits and kissyface and no real attempt at a serious homosexual relationship. Nothing of what you listed would have happened in that case.

Seven had no sexual attraction to Chakotay but that happened anyway. When it comes to Star Trek romances, most of it is just contrived crap dreamed up by oversexed scriptwriters.

I know but I was thinking more about what would be lost with having a Seven romance with Torres. If you do that then you can't do Paris/Torres and to me that was one of the shows strengths especially in the later seasons. Chakotay was a dumb idea from the start. I think it would have made sense with the Borg Queen. If not her create a new character or maybe one of the Delaney sisters who I actually wished had been used more often on the show. Or Celes. Who also should have been used more. The show really should have used it's guest stars like DS9 did.

Well I agree they wouldn't have handled it right but I am thinking more in terms of how it should have been handled if they did do it.

I think B'Elanna wants a partner who will push back, but she ultimately wants to be top dog. Tom is someone she can roll when she really wants to. Seven, I'm not so sure.

I disagree. I think Torres is actually very sensitive and insecure about her Klingon heritage and the anger that comes from her Klingon side. Tom is more a free spirit who can roll with anything and only seems to have is some daddy issues. He was somewhat immature at first but even that changed and while he became more mature he still held on to his free spirit nature. He didn't make the mistake of thinking maturity means becoming boring and sedate. It just means taking on responsibilities and still making time for fun.

Seven to me is someone who was basically a adult child. She was learning to what it means to be human but also a adult and her rudeness and inability to conform is actually the type of behavior you would expect from a teenager. She was able to function and do her job because she was also very smart and then she became a mom to Icheb but it's still that of a teenage mom because she wasn't fully a adult yet either. I mean it says a lot that her best friend was a child in Naomi.

I agree tht they would have handled any same-sex relationship terribly.

Actually, on American network tv of the Nineties, I doubt they would have been allowed to do anything anyway. (And considering Beman's attitude, in this case, I'm probably grateful...)

Tv shows even then could have handled it okay. It would just have to be the right show and even with the right show it would have to be very subtle with lots of subtext.

Is this about Seven and B'Elanna as a couple?
Seven might be experimental in "Picard" but isn't B'Elanna straight?

    Fighting is foreplay for Klingons.

All she ever did with Seven of Nine was have foreplay.

Yes but Seven was as well considering she went out with men a few times until the writers on Picard realized it would be more interesting if she wasn't. Fictional characters can be whatever you want them to be though it helps for any changes to at least feel like it makes sense. Seven being gay makes a lot of sense and really develops the character by showing. along with her more open way of talking and expressing emotions how far she has come as a person since her days on the ship. Torres could have also been LGBTQ but it works better they didn't go that way because they really found something between her and Paris that was interesting to watch.
