At this point in time, I'd settle for no Star Trek. If criticism is discouraged I'd say that actively enjoying current Trek is also discouraged.
Just like TOS and TNG did, eh? (In fact TNG's writing staff didn't stabilize until midway into its 4th season).I think that's debatable, as they've went through multiple showrunners and writers during the first two seasons. Just because something is a success, doesn't mean it is ran well behind-the-scenes.
Writing staffs perhaps, but the set designers and prop makers, etc. are shared across the current Trek productions. That's why production on the first season of Picard was wrapped before they started production of ST: D season 3 - and why Section 31 will be produced after ST: D Season 3 is in the can.^^With the exception of Kurtzman, Picard, Lower Decks, Prodigy and Section 31 have completely different production and writing staffs than Disco. Indeed, many of the Short Treks are done written by people not involved with Disco.
No, Picard has different set designers and prop makers, the whole bunch. It would have to, given it films in California and Disco films in Toronto. Section 31 will probably share Disco's people, as it will also film in Toronto.Writing staffs perhaps, but the set designers and prop makers, etc. are shared across the current Trek productions. ^^^Meh. I just treat it as an alternate timeline. I just want good stories.

This cannot be emphasized enough.Anyone that likes Anson Mount's work, I can't recommend highly enough Hell on Wheels. Dramatization of the building of a railroad to California.

So far these poeple who supposedly "don't know how run a show" have produced:
- 2 seasons (29 episodes) of ST: D
- 6 Short Treks
- Have the first season of "Star Trek Picard" in the can and are in the post production phase - and I guess 5 episodes are fully completed as Patrick Stewart stated he's watched the completed first 5 episodes.
- Are filming ST: D Season 3 as I type this.
- Have two animated series in the works: "Lower Decks" for CBSAA; and one supposedly titled "Star Trek: Prodigy" for Nickelodeon.
- As late as last September of this year have said production and filming of a "Section 31" series (starring Michelle Yeoh) will begin after filming pof ST: D season 3 wraps.
So yeah sorry, for a group that you like to claim "don't know how to run a show"; they have been running a number of shows for a few years now.
Thank you for this.
Haven't read the replies, but I will try to answer the OP question. A reason not to make a Pike series at this time. Maybe they haven't identified a showrunner that they have confidence in. I am sure there will be no shortage of volunteers (including all the posters on trekbbs), but maybe Kurtzman hasn't yet found someone he likes. Michael Chabon would have been a prefect choice but he is busy with Picard. They need to find a Michael Chabon/Manny Coto/Ron Moore type, someone knowledgeable about TOS and passionate about it, and a good writer to boot.
J Michael Straczynski would be the perfect showrunner for a Pike show IMHO.
Please, no. That hack shouldn't be put anywhere near Star Trek.J Michael Straczynski would be the perfect showrunner for a Pike show IMHO.

Where Pike keeps a sinister box in his quarters but the show is cancelled before we ever find out what's inside it. And they get new uniforms halfway through but randomly switch back to the old ones again a few episodes later.J Michael Straczynski would be the perfect showrunner for a Pike show IMHO.
