Really the Kelvin? (Intel Website)

Re: Does the Enterprise computer run on Intel?

Thank god! Page 2, finally.
I was getting annoyed by my own page-stretching post ;) :D

Re: Does the Enterprise computer run on Intel?

I still think the lettering is slightly off center.. like facing the cameera but it should be angled the direction of the secondary hull.

Re: Does the Enterprise computer run on Intel?

mhmm... odd...

the red-image Kelvin seems to be missing those rectangles in front of her name...
and the blue-image Kelvin has a blue glowing 'nacelle'...

I have the power. :techman:

It's like you're He-Man.

Looks like lens distortion to me. Check out the gridlines---the lettering is centered on the line running up the middle of the saucer, but the lines look "bent" compared to the nacelle. I think we're seeing a mild fisheye effect, similar to what Ryan Church said on Trekmovie is happening to that pic of the new Enterprise.

Re: Does the Enterprise computer run on Intel?

Looks even better than the first pictures suggested... A perfect addition to the menagerie of TOS, TOS-R and TOS-fanon ships. And the fact that these two pics show some of the battle charring that we're going to see in the movie makes it all the more probable that these are 100% genuine. A fan artist probably wouldn't put the damage in; a movie artist wouldn't bother to remove it.

That center line doesnt appear to be lined up with that strip of metal leading up to the hull

Looks sweet! I was right, those three forward windows are on the ship. You can sort of see them in the original pic release - not very well though. And that is a window on the front of the bridge.

Guys, it's fine. The hull isn't flat, that's why the lines are not parallel, but the ship is prefectly straight. Check out where the engine-hull pylon meets the saucer. Curvey little minx, ain't she?

If you zoom in on the upper hull, and lighten the image, you can see what looks like rows of unlit windows.

I am no fan of the single nacelle design but this ship looks great- I have some small beefs with it (like all the little nibs sticking up all over the saucer- the window on the bridge- and the single nacelle) but this really does look awesome! Something completely new to see on Star Trek!

Re: Does the Enterprise computer run on Intel?

After a long msn convo last night with a friend about the the Enterprise which he doth not like (nor some of the close to original conjecture from the original teaser) I showed him this...which he also does not like, something about "one large nacelle...they cant be serious!"

Ah well, I like it, something to be positive about again after the last couple of days to tide me over to a trailer which hopefully will restore some faith.

Now all I want is a picture of this beauts bridge!

Re: Does the Enterprise computer run on Intel?

What is a bit odd is that the blue view that duplicates the screenshot has the three plus three hatches of the pop-up "CIWS cannon" in the right places, but the red view shows no sign of these hatches. Instead, there are the two larger hatches placed symmetrically vis-á-vis the phaser banks on each side, which in turn are missing from the blue view and the screenshot.

Could be that these remain semi-accurate fakes, then, and not actual prints of the movie model.

Re: Does the Enterprise computer run on Intel?

Could it be that Intel have used renders from concept models for the wallpapers?

Why would a company like Intel use a fan made image?

Re: Does the Enterprise computer run on Intel?

Anybody else love the classic shapes of the secondary hull and the nacelle? :)

Re: Does the Enterprise computer run on Intel?

Nice big glass viewscreen to tie in to the nice big glass viewscreen on the 1701

Re: Really the Kelvin?

Huh. I like. But I'm skeptical about it;s legitimacy...the font for "Star Trek" is wrong, just like the other fan-made poters. On the other hand, if its fake, somebody whipped up a version of the Kelvin using elments of the new Enterprise awfully quickly.
Intel is one of the promotional sites for the movie. Also, the font is consistent with the font for the other teaser posters, especially the white one with the starfield font. The "E" in "Trek" is different than it appeared in TOS, as it was in that poster.

This is official. I like the scale of the bridge on the Kelvin. Although, I kind of wish this is the direction they went in for the Enterprise and made the Kelvin a little more like something from ENT or the Daedalus-class. MadMan's renders of the 1701 are doing pretty good at convincing me otherwise though!

Thing is - if it's fake, why is it hosted on an official intel site (that is clearly a promotional tie-in) and linked to from the Starship datebase ?

Edit: Is that second Nero picture in the database new?
