Spoilers Ready Room with Wil Wheaton

Picard has just gone FULL LEATHER this season which seems like an odd choice.........
It's all about the grain.

It was never going to be Sisko. Avery doesn’t want anything to do with Trek anymore. I don’t even think he acts anymore.

I also doubt the big bad behind everything will be a non-TNG connected villain.
Indeed. TNG connections for sure.

Where to watch new Reday Room episode? I always did it on StarTrek.com but this is first time that I can't find new RR there.

Last I read, Avery Brooks is teaching at a university in New England or something like that. It was a fairly significant coup to get him to do an interview for one of the recent Trek documentaries

What interview? I thought he hadn't done any interview for many, many years...

You might be talking about "The Captains" where he was interviewed (playing the piano if I remember rightly). That was 2011, but you may also be thinking of the more recent "What We Left Behind" documentary from 2019, but Brooks wasn't interviewed on screen for that. Not sure if they reused footage from The Captains in the film

It was "The Captains"...and now I'm sad because my brain still views 2011 as "recently"

Hearing Brent describe himself as being in the "geriatric phase of my life" is both hilarious and sad for me.

For me all of these actors and characters are still in their 40's with so much time ahead..

But its not true, that was 30 years ago.

He declined to participate in What We Left Behind, but apparently he did watch it and enjoyed it. It's a shame he's reluctant, especially for something like the documentary in question where his voice would have been valuable, but I respect his choice.

Brooks was off his rocker in "The Captains"

By all accounts he always has been!

A very interesting, intelligent erudite man who's also absolutely bonkers.

Either of you seen the 90s British sketch show "The Fast Show"? I only ask because when I watched The Captains, his interview reminded me of one of their "Jazz Club" sketches... nice.

That takes me back to my teens. Yes, I see that. Brooks is an absolute legend. Casey Biggs recalls a brilliant anecdote in the WWLB documentary... "glide, motherfucker!"

Just catching up on the various Ready Rooms. The Tim Russ one... wow. That was just magic. The "season 5" anecdote, and then the Tuvix discussion, were just awesome. Pretty much all of them could talk for hours and it wouldn't get boring (Frakes in particular... that guy is just wonderful). I don't think these types of "behind the scenes" shows are always a good idea, but in this case they add so much to the core material. Wil Wheaton does an amazing job. Nobody else could host this really.

They may be older but not any lesser. I was worried that time might make the TNG's crew return difficult. But seeing them onscreen has ignited an interests in characters I wasn't a fan of before
