Re-cast TOS with other 60s actors

Kirk: Mike Brady
Spock: Carol Brady
McCoy: Greg Brady
Scotty: Alice
Uhura: Marcia Marcia Marcia
Sulu: Peter Brady
Chekov: Bobby Brady
Rand: Cindy Brady
Chapel: Jan Brady

Kor: Sam the Butcher
You do realize that this would mean that Jan has a crush on her own mother, and all that sexual-themed stuff in "The Naked Time" and "Amok Time" would be more than a little creepy, right? :wtf:

But swap Greg and Carol (he becomes Spock and she becomes McCoy) and this would be hilarious.

"I CAN'T open hailing frequencies, Captain! What if the aliens see my nose?" (there was an episode in which Marcia's nose was accidentally hit, and she acted like it was the end of the world)

Kirk - Robert Redford
Spock - Bruce Lee
McCoy - David Janssen
Scotty - William Conrad
Sulu - Susumu Karobe
Uhura - Diana Sands
Chekov - Richard Beymer
Chapel - Susan Oliver
Rand - Yvette Mimieux

I'm not sure who I'd cast further down the line to go with them, but the thought of Martin Milner as Kirk and Kent McCord as Spock tickles my fancy....Maybe jump back to their Mark VII predecessor and have Harry Morgan as McCoy and Jack Webb as Scotty. Can you imagine those intercom conversations between the bridge and the engine room?

The Enterprise would be screwed, because Jack Webb would never break the laws of physics.

"Therein lies danger, Captain. Oh sure, it begins quietly, at the atomic level, a quantum here, a quantum there, cheap stuff for free. It makes a kid feel that the Universe owes him things, and before long, it's look out Isaac Newton. It's easy to scoff at such an old-fashioned paradigm, but when you're an officer you just know that you have a special mission and a contract with the crew to get everyone home safely. And another thing ...

"Maybe you think cold-starting the engines and going straight to Warp 9 is funny mister, but lemme tell you something...."

Great stuff. Keep 'em coming.

Here's a wildly different one that could have been fun:

Kirk: John Wayne
Spock: Kirk Douglas
McCoy: Henry Fonda
Scotty: Lee Marvin
Uhura: Abbey Lincoln
Demora Sulu: Eiko Ando
Pavelina Chekov: Kim Darby
Chapel: Vera Miles

:D

Well! [Jack Benny narrates this line]

If the budget is unlimited ...

Kirk: Charlton Heston
Spock: Paul Scofield
McCoy; Laurence Olivier
Scotty; Orson Welles
Sulu: Paul Muni
Uhura: Dorothy Dandridge
Chekov: Marlon Brando

How about the 1950's. Cheaper, probably.

Kirk: John Agar
Spock: Michael Rennie
McCoy; John Hoyt
Scotty; Sir Ralph Richardson
Sulu: Keye Luke
Uhura: Ava Gardner
Chekov: Sal Mineo

I promise I'll cut it out now.

Raymond Burr as Christopher Pike!

This would have brought a whole new meaning to the "Row, Row, Row Your Boat" scene in Star Trek V (to get the reference you have to have watched the movie Ben-Hur...).

Scotty - William Conrad

Well he has a great voice for sure but it would put to rest any thought that Starfleet has a required fitness program and I am not sure he could fit into a Jeffries tube

In all seriousness, Conrad was one of my favorites and not for his TV roles but he had a long old time radio career including Matt Dillion in the radio version of Gunsmoke. I did hear a story that he wanted and was considered for the TV series but when he went in to read for it - he couldn't fit in the chair and they were afraid he would hurt the horse - not sure if that one is true. I'm an avid OTR fan and Gene Roddenberry wrote scripts for the radio version of Have Gun Will Travel - many of those were converted to the TV show and that series was voiced by an absolutely great actor who although you may not recognize his name, will if you google an image of him - John Dehner. Of course, Richard Boone played the role on TV.

Diana Rigg and Angie Dickinson:

I'm going to limit my choices to actors and actresses who were working in tv in the 60s. So no Laurence Olivier as Chekov type casting.

Kirk: Robert Conrad for the action scenes and ladykiller stuff. Or maybe Robert Culp. Culp was a very underrated actor. I didn't appreciate how good he was until I saw him in a couple of episodes of The Outer Limits.

Spock: Donald Sutherland is actually a very interesting choice. I like that idea. My own pick would probably be Martin Landau.

McCoy: Joseph Cotten was doing a lot of tv work by this point in his career. Very talented actor and could pull off the southern accent. Or maybe William Conrad? A fat, irascible, but wise MD. Since he's afraid of the transporter he could have his own shuttlepod/'73 Lincoln Continental. No?

Scotty: Alan Young (He could do a great Scottish accent)

Uhura: This is a tough one. For some reason, I like the idea of the communications officer having language skills or at least a cool voice. I thought about a race or gender swap for this character. Ross Martin was a polyglot and had good chemistry with Robert Conrad. On the other hand, Brock Peters is a good actor with an interesting voice.

Sulu: Keye Luke (I like the idea of having a slightly older cast member)

Chekov: Lee Meriwether (I also like the idea of having very hot cast members. Think Miss Kitka from Batman '66)

Janice Rand: Barbara Eden (See above)

Anyone think that Jonathan Frid from Dark Shadows might have been a good Spock? A few years older than Nimoy....
