Re-cast TOS with other 60s actors

This one was just begging to be done:

Jane T Kirk: Sandra Smith
Spock: Majel Barrett
McCoy: Patricia Neal
Scotty: Maureen O'Hara
Sulu: Nancy Kwan
Chekov: Patty Duke
Lt Palmer: William Shatner
Chris Chapel: Leonard Nimoy

Now there's a whole different dynamic for ya. :D

I've played with how I'd have re-cast the original but with the first pilot, "The Cage." My cast would've looked like:

Captain Robert M. April, played by Robert Culp
Number One, played by Eartha Kitt
Dr. Philip "Bones" Boyce, played by Percy Rodriguez
Lieutenant Spock, played by Martian Landau
Yeoman J.M. Colt, played by Majel Barrett/M. Leigh Hudac
Lieutenant Jose Tyler, played by Peter Deyell (who auditioned for Robin)

I actually got to meet Eartha Kitt in 1967 as a nine year old. She'd have made a good Uhura.

Bob Crane as Kirk. Wrong color hair, but he had some of the same feel to him as Col. Hogan that would have transferred well to Kirk.

Michael Landon as Chekov

Ernest Borgnine as Scotty.

This is a great idea for a thread and right up my alley. I'm still working on mine. One of the biggest challenges of this is to avoid using actors who actually did appear on the series as guest stars. For instance, one of the first who came to mind for an alternate McCoy was William Windom - and I immediately said to myself "You can't choose him, he was already on the show!"

My first thought on casting Kirk with contemporary original series actors was Michael Parks . . . but he would have been just a few years too young at the time. But, hey! You want a choice rife with irony? How about . . . John Drew Barrymore?

No limits. Nothing wrong with picking Windom for McCoy. Maybe then pick someone else for Commodore Decker.

Actually, Deforest Kelley would have been a good fit for Decker. :)

Uhura - Ruby Dee was my first thought. She was in her forties at the time of the original STAR TREK but could still pass for a woman in her twenties. If not Dee, than maybe Gail Fisher or Diana Sands.

Sulu - How does ULTRAMAN's Susumu Kurobe grab you?

Here's my meager list, it would have been a slightly older crew with a few exceptions I suppose...

Kirk- James Arness
Spock- Chuck Connors
Bones - Fred MacMurray
Uhura- Diahann Carroll
Chekov- David McCallum
Scotty-Patrick McGoohan (Yes, he is an Irish actor but...)
Nurse Chapel- Lois Maxwell

And for bonus points...

Anthony Quinn- Fleet Captain Garth

And for not completely worthy and honorable reasons...

Yeoman Rand- Diana Rigg

Kirk: Roy Thinnes
Spock: Bill Bixby
McCoy: Richard Basehart
Scotty: Alan Young
Uhura: Leslie Uggams
Sulu: Bruce Lee
Chekov: Roddy McDowall
Rand: Lara Parker
Chapel: Anne Francis

Judy Pace as Uhura. Peter Graves as Kirk. (Ever seen a Starship Bridge before?) I'll have to think about the others.

Sorry to derail but I just imagined TOS more in the vein of it's more light-hearted TV rivals Batman or The Munsters which could only lead me to...

Kirk - Sir Adam of West (The tunic wouldn't even require re-tailoring:lol:)
Spock - Ted Cassidy
McCoy - Burgess Meredith (I think I said him last time but...)
Scotty - Al Lewis
Uhura - Eartha Kitt
Sulu - Desi Arnaz
Chekov - Burt Ward

Kirk: Mike Brady
Spock: Carol Brady
McCoy: Greg Brady
Scotty: Alice
Uhura: Marcia Marcia Marcia
Sulu: Peter Brady
Chekov: Bobby Brady
Rand: Cindy Brady
Chapel: Jan Brady

Kor: Sam the Butcher
