Re-cast the writers.

Since so many complaints about Enterprise center around the writing, what writer would you like to have done an episode for Enterprise? Either traditional script writer or an author of books.

Donald Bellisario created and writes for NCIS); writer for JAG, Quantum Leap (would certainly have done right by Scott!); Magnum PI, Airwolf
Don McGill: also writes for NCIS (including this season's awesome finale!), Numb3rs, JAG.

Funny you mention NCIS since I was planning to dig out the DVD's and look at the writing credits before posting my choices.

You call that an awesome finale?! ARGH THE TENSION!!!!!! :scream:

As for the topic at hand, I would have liked to see Glen Morgan & James Wong (The X-Files). They did some great ramped-up dramatic and character-developing eps. :bolian: Actually, come to think of it, a few other X-Files writers would have been cool contributors to ENT: Darin Morgan, Frank Spotnitz...

Don't forget Vince Gilligan

Any XF writer or any former Trek writers: Naren Shankar, Ricky Manning, David Kemper,Rockne O'Bannon,Carlton Eastlake( all who went on to write for Farscape showing they know how to do character scripts).

Joss Whedon.
Hard for me to see Joss Whedon writing the gritty and shoes-firmly-planted on the...grav plating type stuff, that separated ENT from the other spinoffs.

I could see Whedon writing VOY or TNG (but not DS9). Of course, my exposure to his writing has been limited to a few episodes of Buffy that I watched (and quite enjoyed) with my daughter, so who knows, he might not be too bad for a "whimsical" ENT episode.

Were we watching the same Enterprise? Season 3 was gritty, but most was not.

Joss' specialty is writing great characters, writing drama and writing comedy -- all elements that ENT had or could've used imo.

I would have liked to have seen what JMS would have made of it all.

One person I would have liked to have written for the show, but I don't think he writes for TV is long time Trek novel writer Peter David.

And (tongue very firmly in cheek) Russell T Davies.;)

Yes, one of the biggest problems with seasons 1 and 2. Season 4 certainly had a hard edge, (certain acting choices notwithstanding).

Well, I don't know about the drama, but who knows. I do think he could have been good writing a "whimsical" or a reset episode.

Since Joss Whedon gave us 'Firefly', I would say he could do the gritty thing, as well as proving he can do great characterization.
