Re-cast Captain Jonathan Archer

T'Pol was B and B's sexual lab rat. They did anything they could to embarass and degrade the character. T'Pol In Heat, anyone? She inexplicably became a physical weakling in Season 3 despite the fact that she should have been stronger than any man on the ship. It's a credibt to Blalock that she still managed to make her character compelling and interesting.
I just think unfortunately the writers, including Sussman (who I think is one of the best ones from the first part of ENT), don't know how to write for women. Little did they know, all they had to do was focus on the character and let hair and makeup folks enhance the actresses natural beauty for men to probably find them hot babes.

Since I'm a chic, I'll assume for a moment men are like women ... or at least me. I like beefcake. Seeing bare, hairy chests with only jeans is sexy. I don't want male characters to be shirtless every episode or them to be constantly chasing after women for a romantic liaison. Instead, I want the writers to focus on making the guy interesting, smart and competent. :)

Take Hoshi. She seldom wore anything other than her Starfleet uniform. But I still found her to be far more attractive than T'Pol in a catsuit.

Actually, I remember suggesting him for a Trek captain before ENT was announced. This was shortly before he was cast in CSI: Miami. I'd been re-watching the first series of NYPD Blue, in which he was really good.

I still think he would have been good, but I think nowadays, people just associate him with, well, removing the sunglasses, a squint and a Who riff!

John Schneider. After seeing him in 'Smallville' I think he would have made a good Trek Captain.
Having said that, I liked Scott; I thought he did a good job with a difficult character.

Or Ben Browder from Farscape and Stargate. Then we'd have that southern captain Connor Trineer seems to be a favorite to play.

Browder's character would have to have some sort of sardonic edge to him. I'd hate to see him wasted in a bland Starfleet do-gooder role (sort of the way SG-1 is wasting him right now. ;)) If Archer had been written as more of a real 22nd C type and not just a 24th C type oddly displaced in time, then Browder would have been a great choice.

Ben Browder would have been wasted but I think his role in SG1 was what he discussed with them. He knows the fan mind and didn't want to insult the fans or offendd them. Had the show gone another season I am betting we would have seen Mitchell blossom a bit.. Trek doesn't want actors who care about their characters and the scripts even guesties have mentioned that.
