"Kinko's Copies Corp. was founded in 1970 by Paul Orfalea, a young man of Lebanese ancestry who gave the company the nickname given him for his curly red hair." from Kinko's Company History

So Rick had no excuse, except for, well, TIME. ;)

Five stars, easily!

So nobody has any "in universe" theories about why they suddenly scrapped the Ent-A?

"Hey you just saved the peace process and prevented a presidential assassination....were sacking you three months early and getting rid of your ship"

A) Probably as a way of helping to phase out the constitution-class ships in favor of the newer Excelsior class ships. I imagine Starfleet Command wanted to have an Excelsior-class Enterprise out there as soon as possible and...

B) Probably also as a tip of the hat to Kirk, so that no one else ever commanded that ship but him.

The Enterprise crew weren't getting *sacked*, they were getting reassigned. And the ship was being decommissioned, which could mean scrapping or it could mean being refitted for other uses.

I've consulted my memory alpha there was actualy a large timeframe between V and VI in the ST universe so they probably just had their run and needed to be retired.

Maybe early retirement was a gift? 3 months early for saving the peace?
