Rate your favorite version of TUC on a scale from 1 to 5 stars, with 5 being the best Trek movie--not against movies in general.

I gave it 5 stars against movies in general. Does this mean I'm disqualified? I don't approve of the scenario that Star Trek can't hold up to "movies in general" and needs it's own grading scale. that's just crazy talk.

^^I like the way you think.
Unfortunately I've seen people say they can't give Trek movies a 4 or 5 star rating because they aren't up to the standards of 'Hollywood classics'
I don't know what that means, but I put it that way just in case.

I just watched TUC again today. It's available for instant viewing on Netflix (so is Generations, but who cares).
I gave it 4 stars and I agree that people in general don't think ST movies aren't as good as general movies, but I never agreed with that way of thinking.
Kirk's talk of turning over the reins to a newer, younger crew was all the segue needed for TNG to take over the movie franchise at that time. It shows how unnecessary it was to have Kirk (or any of the original crew) show up in future movies.

Well, a lot of Star Trek movies are written like glorifed TV episodes, which is why I think many people think of them as lower on a scale that most movie movies.

While I don't necessarily think thats the base, I don't think ANY Trek movie is in the film classic category...which is also true of most films.

5 stars for me. Wonderful send-off for the original crew and it works because it draws on a lot of history that came from the show directly.

Four stars from me, really enjoyed this film. And a really good setup for the 24th century Treks.

Another 4 from me. This was such a great swan song for the original cast, and it was great to have Meyer back at the helm!

Four stars. It holds up well today and it's a more than decent send-off for the OS crew.

Except for the very last words at the peace confrance which almost made me vomit it was a good movie.
Saw it for the first tme at christmas, interspliced with loads of christmas ads like the budwiser horses, even today watching it makes me feel christmas..ish...ey?

Loved the scenes with the Excelsior (Im glad they changed that bridge set), and always had a soft spot for the Ent-A

Two points though...didn't they decomission her a bit abruptly?
Was it a case of "come back to space dock" "no seriously come back" "errr...our engines are broken...we swear"....."are they fuckiin with us?...they're fuckiin with us again aren't they?....screw this decomission them that'll show the bstards"

...and I remember on the DVD SE commentary them saying that they preferred the ending to be the CREW (as opposed to cast) signing the final Kirks written log, I thought that would have been a better idea, they said someone overruled them I cant remember who

...oh and the second star to the right thing...made no sense to me
