Nacelles are very long and thin (unsubstantial), join between primary hull and secondary not substantial enough (breakage point). Cut outs in primary hull make that part look weaker also. If there is some story explanation, like it is a super-fast exploration ship that is lightly built I could accept it's looks but if I were walking down a line of starships presented as sculptures it would not be my favorite. Personal opinion.

Seriously? I'm pretty sure the neck is thicker proportionately than any ship but the Excelsior, excluding those with directly connected hulls. Even the Enterprise-D narrows down to a very slim cross-section where the neck meets the engineering hull. It's definitely thicker in absolute terms than either version of the Constitution.

I was just thinking that if you did the "Starship Enterprise made from a 3.5 Floppy Disk", you'd end up with something that looks a heck of a lot like Discovery!

(now looking around work and then home for some old floppy disks!)

Every aspect of the final version is a vast improvement from that teaser version, as expected. And I even like the color.

I don't love the way the nacelles are angled.

Overall it looks too aerodynamic. There's no air in space.

This probably also means the ship is going to move very agiley, which I also dislike. I don't watn to see the ship move like the Millennium Falcon when it should be moving more similarly to the way a submarine or Star Destroyer does.

Not sure about "aerodynamic." It looks way to unbalanced in front, and overly wide in the nacelles. Doesn't feel balanced.

I'll be curious to see it in motion, but I certainly don't get an "agile" feel to it.

It is compared to classic Star Trek ship designs

I have a pet peeve with the way the Enterprise moves in the Abrams directed movies. I have a feeling Discovery will move in a similar fashion.

Star fleet ships are relatively large and the core design of them makes it look awkward when the ships are zipping around. It's more natural when they're moving like submarines similarly to the original 6 movies and the TNG series.

It's just my pet peeve though. No one else seems to care.

I wish the nacelles were shorter but overall I like the final design. Looking forward to seeing it on screen.

I always felt they moved very submarine like in the Kelvin films.
(insert Enterprise underwater joke here )

Actually, Discovery reminds me a bit the Galaxy class, in terms of size of secondary hull to the saucer. It feels very unbalanced to me, and the nacelles do not help.

The look is growing on me. I'm not sure I like the fact that the saucer has an "empty ring" in it, but that may grow on me.

The Discovery reminds me a little of the design for the "Baker" class starship from the old 80's FASA Star Trek game.
