Yeah Vanilla Ice is soooo much newer than the 60s. Also I didn't know his real name was Morrissey...;)

A very good piece of 60s stuff.

I know Morrissey looks old, but he ain't that old...;)

Ah, my mistake. I'd connected The Smiths in my mind with the 60s. Plus, if I'd connected the band with Morissey (I hadn't looked up the names of the singers), I'd have realised my mistake, he's still sort of hanging around in the industry now.

My song

Emmon - Distance. I think that's the only video and I don't see why it would be, considering it's been posted on an international blog, but you can try and search. If you do click this... :alienblush:

I was going to wait for someone else, because I know this song, however, I don't know it that well, and I might as well give this thread another chance.

Emmon - Distance

Grade:
A

Liked: Everything. The vocals, the way the notes seem so perfectly placed, the dreamy yet lively atmosphere, I could just listen to a song like this forever.

Disliked: It is a bit repeatativeat first, but it picks up. Overall, not much.

Dappy - No Regrets.

The first one I could think of, sorry if whoever's reading doesn't like the style, because that's perfectly understandable, but I think that this song is one of the best from this artist.

Ok...

Subhumans - Apathy

Grade: B-

Liked: The awesome rhythm of the track. This is what I love about punk rock. It keeps you interested all the way through (ironic given the name ).

Disliked: Gets a bit shouty at time, and I can't make out a meaningful chorus, which is needed.

Loreen - Sober

Loreen - Sober

Grade: A-

Liked: The vibe, the vocals and pretty much everything about it. It sounds soulful and there's a wide range of tones. It sounds lively, yet dreaming at the same time if that makes sense.

Disliked: It might be slightly forgettable on the first listen, since it sounds fairly similar for a large part of the song, but on the second listen I really start to like it more. Maybe it'll grow on me, but as the grade suggests, I already really like it.

Tasmin Archer - Sleeping Satalite

Dolores O'riordan - Willow Pattern

Grade: B

Liked: The harmonies of the piece, and the soft sound she has to her voice. The way the track builds up at the end is good, and there is a good instrumental in the piece.

Disliked: The lyrics are a little hard to pick up. It feels a little country as well, not my favourite genre.

Voltaire Twins - Animalia

The Voltaire Twins - Animalia

Grade: A+

Liked: This was perfect! I am excited to hear more, you picked the perfect song for me.

Disliked: Nothing! You hit me with greatness

Glad you liked it! :D. I found it through an internet Eurovision-style song contest I take part in on my other forum. This wasn't entered by me, (my song this month was Emmon - Distance on the last page), but this was entered by the guy I co-mod with over there. I gave this one 12 points in the semi-final, not sure what I'll give it in the final. It really is brilliant from beginning to end.

Looking up Voltaire Twins on youtube, I can only find one other song. It isn't as good as Animalia, for my money, but I'll post it anyway. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7xXhqdGEHDs

Note: If anyone can teach me the spoiler code trick, I'd like to use that ;)

Mika - Any Other World

Grade: A-

Liked: I am very familiar with Mika, you're a man after my own heart. ;) Love Life In Cartoon Motion, it's a wonderful pop album on the whole. Any Other World is a great soothing song from the middle of the album. I especially like the way the track starts off subdued, and has a big finale.

Disliked: Unfortunately, since I am familiar with Mika, I will say he's done better ballads. My Interpretation and Happy Ending off the same album for example. Any Other World is a little repetitive as well.

BTW, to do the spoiler trick, just surround it with
and [/ SPOILER] (without the spaces. Or just click the smiley face that's not speaking in the top right corner, and enter what you want the spoiler to be about, not the information in the box that comes up.

The second link is the English version of the song (Yes, it is foreign. I hope that isn't too big a spoiler ;)) . I suggest the first version (it's better, imo), but I thought I'd put the second one in anyway.

Grace Jones - Corporate Cannibal

Song: Corporate Cannibal
Artist: Grace Jones

Grade: D

Liked: The beat, and whatever singing there was. It has a good pulse, and a good backing instrumental.

Disliked: The video's a bit weird, and I couldn't make out many of the words, or hear much singing to be perfectly honest. I didn't like the unison of voices that much either, it doesn't work. Her 'talking' isn't too listenable either. It also seemed a bit like 6 minutes of pretty much the same thing.

(Note: This song was/ is very popular in the UK & Ireland and a minor hit in Holland and Australia, but the artist is undiscovered elsewhere.)

The A Team - Ed Sheeran

Song: The A Team

Artist: Ed Sheeran

Grade: B

Liked: He has a pretty nice voice, it is solid and soft. I like the lightness to the song.

Disliked: It isn't very envoking, so the lyrics just slide by.It is a good song for me, but not great. I will listen to more of his stuff.

Song is Blue Planet by Louis First AKA Olivier Tardif

Song: Blue Planet

Artist: Louis First

Grade: B+

Liked: His voice was kind of haunting, and the song sounds nice and quiet, (Which is obviously the intended effect) and well put together.

Disliked: He didn't seem overly confident, and I think that he could've sounded better if he'd tried singing a little louder, and a little clearer. Other than that, the only thing I disliked was the fact that it was under 2 minutes. ;)

The first one's better, but if it's Geolocked, the other's the best I could find.

Ed Sheeran - Lego House. Yes, I know it's the same artist as my last one, but I really love his songs. This is the last one

Liked: Being pop...it wasn't too bad...the guy doesn't look like a typical pop singer and has his own style...I enjoyed the vocals and lyrics.

The guy you see in most of the video is Rupert Grint (from Harry Potter). Ed Sheeran was the ginger guy who appeared at the end. He tends to do that in his videos. ;)

You may have figured that out already. Just checking.

As I Lay Dying - Through Struggle

Grade: F

Liked: I'm sorry, no. With a video of 7 million views, I was not expecting that. I actually couldn't pick out a single thing I liked.

Disliked: Ok, I am no fan of metal, you've probably worked that out already. The screaming is just too much, and I can't discern any music or entertainment value from any of that. Sorry.

Azealia Banks - 212. Enjoy :p

Azealia is SO cute! She doesn't fit with that song, but she's amazing.

IMMA RUIN YOU CUNT! :adore:

Tool - 46 & 2

Grade: C

Liked: Liked it more than I was expecting to, reminds me of a harder Green Day (on their wondrous Boulevard march OBV.) I do recall hearing of these guys before, never bothered listening before, though. The bits of what I think were the 'chorus' were excellent. :techman:

Disliked: There wasn't much to the song aside from the few choruses, I couldn't really discern much of a melody, and I wouldn't say I'd listen to it out of choice.

My song (Oh, so much to choose from...): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kFeLeIGO65Q
