In a weird turnaround from usual, I couldn't help but notice that the Discovery is much bigger on the outside than on the inside.

Hmmm, McDonald's (an advertiser) execs. might be a bit annoyed that the show showed a Burger King restaurant present when Discovery stopped in at that space station K something.

IIRC, the station was Circle K-6. Or maybe that was the station where they picked up the power converters.

It was soooo progressive. Can you believe the captain was a Medusan female? I liked how her first officer carried her around the ship like a lunchbox. And I know I said they shouldn't have used Q, but recasting him with a crappy young punk actor gave the whole episode a slapstick B movie feel. I really felt like I was there....in a B movie.

Q wasn't recast. That was John de Lancie in a hipster outfit. It's amazing what makeup and CGI can do these days.

I think they came up with it. I mean, the entire Discovery crew went on for about ten minutes making fun of Burger King.

Well, it was no "Interregnum," but I liked the re-use of footage from Genesis II.

Anyone noticed product placement in the bar scene, just before the fight? I would have never thought Heineken still exists in 23rd century.

My favorite part was at the end where Riker and Troi come out of the holodeck! Turns out the whole pilot episode was a historical holo-recreation! Oh what fun! :ouch:

It seemed like they were nude just because they could. No real plot driven reasons.
That's one thing that annoys me nowadays with a lot of shows. The need to have a porn sex scene when the information could easily be given in another scene.

But I thought Discovery was still a year away.

Well, I mean... Ya know. I'm torn. Glad Trek is back on TV... Sorta... And it was nice to see the original series era again... Sorta... But, well, I could have done without the exploitative alien sex scenes... I never want to see a Horta and a Medusan do that again.

Are they serious?! Harcourt Fenton Mudd is NOT an Adonis-like figure and Stella most certainly should NOT be played by Scarlett Johansson. I thought this was supposed to be a PRIME universe show--not some dreadful reimagining like that Jar-Jar dreck. :scream::scream::brickwall:

And pink too-toos and purple hair ribbons for the Klingons? What's next, Romulan biker gangs?:klingon:
