Did anybody else love this episode??
It seemed like such a pivotal episode for Sisko kind of like Spock mindmelding with Vejur.
Sisko was always so Starfleet and saw the Prophets as wormhole aliens but he seemed so much more comfortable in his role as the Emissary after this episode. The Admiral was looking at him funny because of his obsession. Sisko was very laid back when Kassidy returned after her prison sentence and just whisked her away to Bajor to find Balhalla as if she had never been gone. And the look on Kai Wynn's face when Sisko barged into the meeting and insisted Bajor not join the Federation was priceless!! Her perceived rival was actually agreeing with her and made her start questioning herself and her beliefs.

The visions were great foreshadowing of the Dominion War. I also loved how Sisko and Kassidy getting back together in this episode (and eventrually married later in the series) was addressed later in "The Reckoning," another favorite of mine.

All in all, a great Sisko episode!!

This is one of my all-time favorite Trek episodes. I especially loved the narrative about faith. We already knew Kira was spiritual, but the battle-hardened warrior, Worf, also supported Sisko's journey.

Rapture was also a key turning point in the series. We saw the change in uniforms, the seeds of the Dominion War, and Sisko's final acceptance of his role as Emissary.

Definitely one of my all-time faves. When Sisko busts into the signing ceremony, it was one of the most dramatic Trek moments I can remember. Excellent.

Very very good... Sisko's discovery of Bahala was great -- wish they had done more with it (which they have in the relauncdh). I haven't seen it in a while, but I felt bad for Cassidy: Sisko practically ignored her

I thought it was a pivotal episode too but I wanted the plot to pivot in a different way: Sisko should have started to veer away from the official atheism of Starfleet and more towards his Bajoran religious identity and Starfleet should NOT have been so accepting! They have the commander of a crucial starbase taking advice from wormhole aliens who are pretending to be deities? What evidence do they have that the Prophets aren't working for the Dominion? None!

It was absurd how trusting Starfleet was, and also we lost out on a more gripping and dramatic plot arc for Sisko, as he's forced to choose between Starfleet and his religious awakening. But that would have been too hot a potato for Paramount I guess...

I didn't find it pivotal since DS9 was soon to move on to much big and better things than Bajorans. Ie: the Dominion.
And things that Sisko said in this episode that would happen at some point, never actually will happen. Like Bajor joining the Federation; not gonna ever happen in terms of canon since DS9 ended before bothering picking up with that theme again. Not that I mind because I hate Bajorans and I think DS9 is it it's very best when Bajorans and Bajorans issues are at their most minimal presence.

As Bajoran episodes go it's one of the more tolerable ones. I say it's an ok episode, but nothing great about it in my view. Other than Louise Fletcher who is amazing as always.

One of my favorite, emotional scenes in all DS9 is when Jake decides to let the changeling operate on his dad.

That's right!! I forgot about the changeling as Bashir storyline that was retrofitted into this episode!! Makes you wonder wny the changeling didn't let Sisko die and take out a key player of the Federation. Maybe the changeling so the relationship between Sisko and the wormhole aliens and thought that killing Sisko wasn't worth the chance of angering the Prophets and losing the gateway to conquering the Aplha Quadrant?? Ideas??

It's because he wasn't really a changeling in the episode, they just fubared up that part of the series by not thinking it through before they did it.

But another interesting thing just occurred to me:

Why is next of kin allowed to over-ride the life or death decision of the patient in the Star Trek universe? That's really creepy. Ie: Someone says don't pull the plug, then as soon as he's in the situation, the next of kin says pull the plug and the Trek doc does it. :wtf:

Awesome episode …probably one of my top 10. Considering is was Sisko’s mission from the very 1st episode of the series to get Bajor into the Federation…then at the last moment he nixes it. Incredible. I always enjoyed a deeper exploration of the Bajorian belief system.

As I recall he wasn't considered capabable of making his own decisions at that point, although Major Kira didn't agree with the decision...

This episode contained one of my favorite moments of the series: Sisko's conversation in the holosuite with Kira concerning his visions. It had such an air or mystery, magic and wonder. The music in the background was a perfect blend of all those elements in fact. I wish more could have been explored with B'hala down the line.
