I'm kinda disappointed that more hasn't been done with them in the books. This is another one of those balls that the shows dropped that I've been hoping the books would pick up on.^that's too bad, I always found Ransom story interesting. How a Starship Captain loses his crew and spirals down.
Yeh it would have been good to have revisited the equinox crew as semi regulars. I read the novel ages ago it has a little more backstory. They tried communication didnt think they were any more sentinent than fish but had doubts. It was a lot of small steps to what they did.
Yeah, I should have been more specific, because I was reffering to after they joined Voyager. It just seems like they set up a great situation that could have lead to some very interesting characters and situations, but nothing else was ever really done with it.Meh, the Equinox served its purpose to me. We know some of the background; any more is kind of as useless as what the silver blood Voyager was up to.
I was upset, however, that the Equinox crew who survived were never revisited. Them redeeming themselves to Janeway would have made interesting stories.
Back to the book what would Janeway do if they were the equivalent of cats in inteligence.

Nothing. Nothing wrong with eating a cat if your starving to death, just as nothing wrong with using these aliens to try and power ur ship

There seems to me to be a quantitative moral distinction between eating cats to survive, and throwing living cats into a coal engine to power your ship in order to get back home.
^But it was established that the aliens were sapient, wasn't it? So it's not like this is open to debate.
