Ranking the Discovery Episodes so far...

Lethe
Choose Your Pain
Butcher's Knife
Context is for Kings
Magic bla bla bla
Vulcan Hello
Battle at the Binary Stars

Lethe gets a six. The others range between a 2 and maybe 4/5.

Nothing really happened in Context is for Kings, it didn't have much of a plot apart from "Burnham joins Discovery". Whole episode was very expository and so is my least favourite.

Lethe
Choose Your Pain
Magic etc etc (the episode titles are getting so tediously pretentious)
Vulcan Hello
Butcher's Knife
Battle at the Binary Stars
Context is for Kings

I haven't seen ep7 yet, and I wouldn't make a ranking quite yet, either, but so far the one episode that gave me a better impression than the rest is ep5: "Choose your Pain". Less clichéd (still some clichés), better dialogue (overall), less pew pew (still a lot of pew pew), ... but Lethe brought the clichés and hackneyed writing back in force.

Although "Choose your Pain" isn't much good on an ethical standpoint. We start the series off with a war crime (boobytrapping a corpse), and now we leave civilians (immoral civilians, sure, but that's no reason) behind on an enemy ship, to be tortured to death?

1. Choose Your Pain
2. Lethe
3. Battle at the Binary Stars
4. The Vulcan Hello
5. Magic to Make the Sanest Man Go Mad
6. Context Is for Kings
7. The Butcher's Knife Cares Not for the Lamb's Cry
