Giacchino's score for the newest movie just plain rocks. All 15 tracks on the soundtrack are a joy to listen to.

And they are all renditions on the main theme, which makes it repetitive.
I think overall TWOK has the best score, but the music from the Final Frontier, the kind of wistful music heard during Kirk's mountain climb, etc is just great.
Isn't the 20th anniversary edition available in Amazon.com. It says in stock. Also you can download it to MP3 player for $17 dollars. Also you can look for it in Youtube. I recommend buying 20th anniversary edition over the original(less tracks).I noticed many of you listed The Motion Picture's Soundtrack as their #1 favorite. Oddly, this is one that i do not own. So I went online looking for it and it appears to be out of print. Best Buy shows a 20th anniversary edition...does anyone know if this is worth buying?
Or does anyone know where i can find the original?
Thanks!

I have the TMP soundtrack on original 1979 vinyl and the cassette that came out a few years later...but not on CD oddly enough.
Yes i have the 20th edition. I bought it from Amazon 2 years ago. I recommend it over the original coz it has extra eight full tracks of previously unreleased material. The 20th edition is nearly twice the running length of the Original version released in 1979.Trekgirl said: Scott, so you have the 20th edition? I guess i'll take a shot and buy that one. Im still way too retarded to download music. I'll probably figure out all this new technology when i am too old to see/hear/care!
Thanks for the input!
NEMESIS doesn't even get love for its music.Sad, really. Aside from some of the franchise's best space f/x that movie must rank dead last or close to it in almost every conceivable category.
I can't really remember a lot of the music, But the most memorable has to be First Contact's theme.
