So bored. Another day with nothing to do and nowhere to go.
I didn't know that all porn was set in the same universe.
Please note that Diversity, Education and Inclusion are synchronous with the core humanistic values of Trek. The racists raging about DEI benefit from it not being there.Thank you for the explanation. I disagree with a lot of what you've said here, but I don't think I should probably get into too much of a back-and-forth with you about this, because I'm the one who has to intervene in a thread in this forum if things get out of hand, so it's probably not a good idea for me to get too involved with something that may be contentious.
I would, though, just like to say that you have grossly mischaracterized DEI programs. I know DEI has received a bit of a negative connotation, mainly from right-leaning media doing its best to demonize it. But I have been involved with DEI programs at work for a number of years, and nothing about them was trying to take away opportunities from anyone. They were all about trying to remove systemic barriers and provide equal opportunities for all, to put those who may be disadvantaged on a level playing field with everyone else, so that everyone has the same opportunity to be the best they can be.
Starfleet Academy accepts applicants based on merit, not diversity quotas. They would never reject a human applicant to allow more Bolians into the Academy. They also don't make the course work easier for any particular species. The people raging about DEI are not racists, they just want everybody to be treated equally. Please note that Diversity, Education and Inclusion are synchronous with the core humanistic values of Trek. Years ago I went to buy a new pair of Levi's jeans and the store that had them all locked up and no one was in the clothing department. I needed to try them on to find my size so I said screw this and bought a pair of Lee instead because they weren't locked up. Went back to this store to get more Lee and they're all gone! Only Levi's! And still locked up!
Looking at all the stores around me, Walmart is the closest store with Lee jeans and they're not close at all. Does anyone know anything about Goodfellow & Co or Original Use jeans? Those are the brands Target has in-store but I've never heard of them before. I need to try them on again because I think I may have dropped in size.
DEI IS based on merit. Too use your metaphor, it's not about rejecting a human in favor of a Bolian, but encouraging Bolians to apply. No one "makes the coursework easier" either. DEI (and Affirmative Action before it) are admittedly-imperfect attempts to compensate for centuries of systemic racism and sexism.Starfleet Academy accepts applicants based on merit, not diversity quotas. I think it's always better to watch the movie first. If I read the book first, I often find myself being unhappy with the movie's changes unless it's a very close adaptation.Discovered that the novel Vineland was adapted to become the film One Battle After Another. I have an 18 week hold for the book from the library, but I can watch the film now on MAX. Trying to decide if I should watch it now because by time I get the book from the library and read it, it might no longer be available to stream on MAX, especially after the merger.
If I watch the film first, then I immediately picture the actors as the characters, and I can hear their voice when I read the dialogue and thoughts.I think it's always better to watch the movie first. I am aware of that, however I was quoting the original quote for that saying.Edit: War is old men talking and young men, women and children needlessly dying.
