...I see what you mean. Most of the time I don't remember my weirdest dreams (which is probably for the best) but I do remember some.
In the UK we have one party complaining about free speech, but the said party have banned a newspaper from reporting on them because they didn't like what they reported.
Jimmy Kimmel falsely claimed that Tyler Robinson was MAGA, even though all the evidence points to him being a left wing extremist. I don't know if that qualifies as slander under American law, since it's directed at a movement instead of a person. But either way, it's a bold-faced lie.
So I'm not shedding any tears for Jimmy Kimmel being fired. This is the guy who said that people who didn't get the COVID vaccine should be refused medical treatment and allowed to die.
The far left invented cancel culture, so it's poetic justice when it gets used against them.
So if we're getting technical, he didn't actually claim that, although you could argue he implied it.

For years, many conservatives have been free speech absolutists and refused to be involved in cancel culture. But taking the moral high ground achieved nothing. Many were losing their jobs for social media posts that offended the far left. Most of these posts did not glorify violence, they just pointed out certain facts that people on the left found offensive. Gina Carano is an example that comes to mind. Now conservatives have had enough and decided to use the far left's own tactics against them.
If a company doesn't fire someone who celebrated the death of Charlie Kirk on social media, there is a very real possibility that they will lose revenue. Many consumers don't want to give money to someone who celebrates the murder of an innocent person. Most companies will choose revenue over defending free speech.
I'm not a conservative myself, but I do follow several conservative YouTube channels, so I understand their point of view.
