Random Thoughts...or...What's on Your Mind?

I'm at odds with myself, there is a play at a local theatre where my mom lives. But it's at 8pm, in a rural town, with shitty public transport. I can spend the night at my mom's place thankfully, but I don't want to go outside at night even though I won't be alone.

I want to go because otherwise I'll be bored to tears this weekend because I'll have nothing else to do, and I know I'll regret it if I don't go. But I don't want to wait in the cold past 10pm for a bus and then walk 25 minutes back and forth, it's not worth the hassle. I'll guess I'll sleep on it, not having a driver's license sucks

A few months back, I reported that I'd got several volumes of the Eaglemoss Graphic Novel Collection but that there was no space for them on the relevant book shelves.

Over the past couple of days, I've moved and re-arranged 12 (twelve!) shelves of books (double-stacked too) cleaning the shelves (and brushing the books) as I went. The Eaglemoss books are shelved properly and there is a little space should I get any more Hurrah!

Two questions remain:
1) Where is the Bloody Red Baron? (The book by Kim Newman, not the flying ace)
2) Where is my displaced T(o) B(e) R(ead) pile going to go? It's on the window sill at the minute but it can't stay there.

I don't have a license either. I have my permit and have known how to drive for years now, it is just that in the last time I took the road test I failed instantly. The instructor I had was very rude and I did the road test in a very bad area as well. I hope to go to a different area and pass the test for the second time.

The first time I took my driving test was in my dad's Mercedes 280SL. I failed because I kept going too fast on residential streets. The second time was in my mom's enormous 1971 Ford LTD sedan and I passed with flying colors.

I made two sandwiches, cut them both in half, started eating..... and there are only seven pieces of bread? WTF? I'm looking all over the floor and counter and don't see anything!

I've just been out. A few doors down, I was surprised to find a horse being unloaded from a horsebox.

(To put this into context, I live in the suburbs of a large city. The houses in my road are terraced (row houses). We do have large back gardens but still...not really suitable for a horse).

Anyway, I was afforded much amusement when an attempt was made to lead the horse through the passageway between houses. Originally designed to allow access to the back of the house to facilitate coal deliveries, the passages are far too narrow for horses. No amount of cajoling on the part of the two people involved made the horse any thinner.

I left them to it and have returned to find no horsebox and, as far as I can see, no horses in back gardens either.

That should go under "weird and unusual things that happen in suburbia" I think.

I got up early today out of the blue at 645 and sat on the front porch noticing the very early signs of daylight, sky was just starting to turn blue but you could still see stars. Anyway I sat there and cut my nails, then went inside shower, got dressed then went to the train to return a parcel.

When I was growing up, parts of the San Fernando Valley were still zoned for horses. It wasn't what I'd call a common sight, but occasionally you'd see people on horseback on the local streets. Nowadays the only people you see riding horses in suburban L.A. are mounted police.
