Random Thoughts...or...What's on Your Mind?

Kai Winn a zealot

Well, but she was also a villain, too. Kira, one of the main characters, was a very devout member of the Bajoran religion, and her faith always seemed to be presented in a positive light.

I don't think religion has been particularly bashed in any Trek episode or film

I believe I’ve said before that TOS seemed more unabashedly Christian than the later shows. Part of that is just the time it was filmed in, but also Roddenberry didn’t start injecting his secular humanism until TNG.

I certainly don't think Trek is "demonic".

Lucien says “hi”! ;)

I have an email attachment issue I'm hoping someone might be able to help me with. I created an invoice template on Excel that I send to family members every month. On Excel, everything fits to a single page and I'm able to print it fine. When I send it as an attachment, it gets converted to Google Sheets and when I want to print it, it automatically opens up adobe pro and I have 3 pages that print instead of just the one. Basically, Google Sheets and Adobe is editing my file to the point where it's no longer the same file I wanted to print originally. Is there a way to fix this so when the receiver opens up the file, they only have to print a single page? I guess I can tell them to download the file, but I shouldn't have to do that.

And I finally figured it out, so never mind.

So I can contribute to this discussion, I don't think Trek has bashed religion at all. They have actually shown the good and the bad of Religion and let the audience decide. I'm a catholic, and I've never felt that Trek bashed religion. Maybe Picard did in Who Watches the Watchers, but I found that episode kind of overrated anyway and Picard is not religious.

There was a scene (I think in the episode Rapture) where Kira gives the best definition of religion I've probably ever heard. It was when she was talking about faith, and she says something to the effect of, you have faith. It can't be defined, but you know it when you see it. It's kind of like teaching how to tie a shoe. I know how to do it, but I can't actually teach it. It's almost instinctual in a way.

Just watched the pilot for Watson. First CBS gives us Elementary, a crime fighting show where Watson is a woman. Now they give us Watson, a medical drama where Sherlock is dead. Next should be a lawyer show where Holmes, Watson and Moriarty are all the same person.

And Watson is played by a POC

I woke up with this exchange from George A. Romero's 'Dawn of the Dead' going through my head.
"I think Foster's right. We're losing it."
"Yeah. But not to the enemy. We're blowing it ourselves."

You know that cognac ad that came out awhile back, containing scenes from a movie called 100 Years? The film was (supposedly) shot in 2015 but will not be released until 2115.

What I think would be really awesome is....if people in 2115 actually go to see the movie and it turns out to be "Never Gonna Give You Up" repeated a hundred times.

That said, assuming this movie IS real - which I'm still not convinced - this is the version I hope they chose:

(There are two other versions of the trailer. One is set in an ultra-technological Trek-like future, the other is post-apocalyptic. Only one version was actually made into a full length film.)

Elementary already gave us a version where Irene Adler is Moriarty, so it wouldn't be too much farther to go with your idea.

Placed an order for two items. One item is a preorder. Tried to select in-store pickup for the other one, but in doing so they wouldn't give me free shipping. So instead it cost them extra to package it up and send it from out of state for "free" when I was willing to pick it up at a store.

My new car has this thing where, if you're stopped at a traffic light or in traffic or something like that, it shuts off the engine. Then when you press the accelerator again, it turns it back on.

I appreciate what it's trying to do, but it still freaks me the fuck out!
There should be a button to turn the feature off

I think I'm getting better at sussing out these OnlyFans models who are trying to troll me on Twitter.

Nobody that hot really wants to know me.
Speak for yourself, Margot Robbie has been messaging me for months now, so finally went on a date with her. Ok, she didn't quite look like she does in the movies but with lighting and make up that's to be expected, and i didn't quite expect the beard, beer belly and bald head, but you know we all are guilty of making ourselves look better aren't we.

Also never knew Margot was a pseudonym, who'd have thought Robbie was actually her real 1st name?

A friend of mine is pregnant, and I'm worried things will change between us. We already see each other less because she's working now, a child will only increase the distance between us. I really hope that she won't become the type of mother who only talks about her child. I knew this would happen and I've dreading it, it just hoped it would happen over a year. But I guess she's one of those people who wanted to have a child before she's 30
