Random Thoughts...or...What's on Your Mind?

What movie other than 2001 even HAS an intermission?

I still feel like if a movie is 3 hours long or longer, they should consider bringing back the intermission. It brings in more revenue for the theater at the concessions, and allows people to use the rest room. Probably the only reason why there isn't one is because it would impact box office sales, to which i say if you are worried about box office sales, don't have movies that are over 3 hours long. Oppenheimer was a great movie to have an intermission.

Good grief, there is a long history of films with overtures or intermissions:

The cat decided to pee on the rug in the laundry room. Cheaper to toss it and get a new one than try to clean it. But does a laundry room even need a rug?

Not that one, anyway. Once an animal pees on it, they will see that as their pee spot no matter how well you try to clean it. Smelling their pee brings back happy memories to them. Ah yes, my pee. On my rug.

My toaster gave up part way through the breakfast toast. Too lazy to put the bread under the grill, I ate slightly-staled-bread and jam this morning.:shifty:

Note to self: The extra minor effort of lighting the grill would have been well worth it.

If you have gas stove you could toast that way too.

Gas grill: gas oven: gas stove top!

Come to think of it, I've got an open fireplace, an ash tree in the garden+ and the family toasting fork*. I could have lighted a fire and toasted the bread properly...

+ Ash burns bright even when green
* A toasting fork that I inherited rather than one that was used for toasting families

The 147 commandments were written on the walls of a small temple right before reaching the main Temple of Apollo and on columns placed around Apollo’s Temple. They are also referred to as the Delphic Commandments.

The 147 maxims were later attributed to the seven sages of Greece: Solon of Athens, Chilon of Sparta, Bias of Priene, Thales of Miletus, Pittacus of Mytilene, Cleobulus of Lindos, and Periander of Corinth.

The two most important commandments, ΓΝΩΘΙ ΣΑΥΤΟΝ, meaning “Know Thyself” and ΜΗΔΕΝ ΑΓΑΝ, meaning “Nothing in excess,” are written on the bottom left and bottom right respectively on the pediment of Apollo’s Temple.

However, there is a third line, ΕΝ ΔΕΛΦΟΙΣ Ε (meaning, “In Delphi E), situated at the top between the aforementioned two on the pediment. These form a triangle.

Plutarch (AD 46-AD 119), the great historian, who also served as priest at Delphi, wrote the extensive dialogue, “On the ‘E’ at Delphi.”

Found it quite fascinating on a number of levels.

I had my first Eye exam in 8 years today. The prescription didn't change much but the Doctor noticed a small Freckle on the Eye and said that could risk skin cancer. He told me not to worry about it and to just monitor it, so that's good. Now that I bought some eye insurance, having a routine Eye exam at least every 2 years for now makes sense. It will no longer be 8 years between appointments.

I also got some new Glasses today which will come in 2 and a half weeks.

Now it's Football Time with the game tonight.

Took my last antibiotics this morning, so I'm hoping it was enough to beat the infection. Last time this happened a few years ago, it took 2 or 3 tries to get rid of it once and for all, but I think this time they started with the stuff that got rid of it last time, and I feel OK, so I'm optimistic it worked.

I always say cheeseSTEAK when I mean cheeseCAKE (and the reverse).

Oh, and just in case you were wondering - and this applies to everyone reading this message, so don't even try to get out of it - No matter how hungry you think you are, you cannot eat more than two Philly cheesesteaks. Those suckers are bigger than your ARM.

And yes, I have had some rather unkind things to say about the city of Philadelphia in the past. I hereby take all of those comments back, without reservation. I had a vacation in Philly a couple of years ago and I HAD A GREAT TIME. I plan on going back next year.

Bill Burr probably wouldn't agree, though. ;)

Still not gonna have more than two cheesesteaks at a time, though. Trust me, I know whereof I speak. :D
