Random Thoughts...or...What's on Your Mind?

Ever watch those dashboard cam or security cam videos of people who pretend to get hit by a vehicle so they can try to sue them, or in some cases it was probably step one in a carjacking? There's one of a guy who runs into the driver side door of a woman pulling out into the street, but at that exact same time she looks right to make sure it's clear for her to turn, so she has no idea the man is there. And she turns left, running over him.

I just found out that Benji Gregory, who played the son on Alf, died last month. He fell asleep in his car at a parking lot and both he and his service dog died from heat stroke.

Waiting for the train. Been here for over 2 hours. Will be glad when I get back to Melbourne. Got to stay a night in Wagga Wagga. Been some crazy last few days since the funeral.

Apparently there's a new Joker film in which he teams up with Lady Gaga.

Hell, why doesn't Lady Gaga herself play the Joker? Talk about a match made in heaven.

What happens to all your info when a business goes under? I had accounts at MacMall, KB Toys, Circuit City, The Good Guys, Bed Bath and Beyond, and most recently to go kaput is Redbox.

What will happen to your information when a company goes bust tends to be found in the depths of the company's privacy statement. It's usually sold or transferred to another company.

Is media literacy dead?

Saw a trailer for a Netflix docudrama about Wyatt Earp -- reenactments, historians talking directly to the camera, Ed Harris as the narrator, and seven seconds in it even says it's a nonfiction series -- and in the comment section there are multiple posts about how there's no way this will be a better movie than Tombstone.

I really miss the "rack system".

You know what I mean. When you had a huge stack of stereo equipment, all of which had its own function - FM tuner, preamplifier, equalizer, amplifier, cassette deck, CD player, etc. And it didn't just sound good, it was simply glorious to LOOK at! Just this enormous rack of stereo stuff with displays and blinking lights and all that.

Ah, memories. :adore: :)

This reminds me of one of biggest pet peeves on social media, when some posts and video with a caption that explains everything in the video, and then you go down in the comments and there are a bunch of people asking questions that are very clearly answered in the caption.

Here's an imponderable...

- Albert steals a car from Bill.
- Not wanting to keep a hot car in his possession, he quickly sets out to unload it.
- Charlie, a teen who has just started a graveyard shift job, buys the car for $5000.
- The police spot the stolen car, take it from Charlie, and return it to Bill.
- Dale, Charlie's father, realizes that he's going to have to drive his kid to work at 1 in the morning for the next few months. Not wanting to do this, he buys Charlie a car for $5000.
- Albert is never caught.

So... Albert actually stole the car from Bill, but Bill got it back.
Albert has Charlie's $5000 in his possession, but he isn't actually out anything.
And Albert had nothing whatsoever to do with Dale, but he's up five grand, and Dale's lost the same.

So the question is, who did Albert actually steal from?

Bill.

The fact that Bill later got the car BACK is irrelevant. Albert still stole from him, and him alone.

- He didn't steal from Charlie, because Charlie had no right to have the car in the first place (since it was stolen property, and the police had every right to take it from him). The fact that Albert has Charlie's money is irrelevant, because Charlie bought the car from him.

- He also didn't steal from Dale. True, Dale had to buy Charlie a car because of this whole thing, but Albert did not actually steal anything from Dale. Dale bought a car, and technically Albert made him do it, but that's not stealing.
