Random Thoughts...or...What's on Your Mind?

Yeah, not much physical damage--lots of tree limbs scattered about, a few busted fences, etc. One our neighbors had a tool shed in his backyard---but the hurricane sent it flying into the roof of another house. It made a small hole, and the shed was crushed like a soda can. That's the most dramatic thing we saw. The ponds that sit in the middle of the neighborhood--which were supposed to be "flood controlled"--are rather high, so I'm a little concerned about what might happen when we get a bigger storm. But, being in single level brick house is SO much better than our two-story wooden house. Very glad we have our new house, despite all the drama in the beginning. So far, we have found no leaks and no damage (fingers crossed). I wish we had a generator, though. Maybe one day we will.

Will have to throw out all the food in the fridge. Oh well.

If you can, try and get one of those Generac ones, they connect to your house's natural gas supply. I got one soon after I bought my house. One of the most sensible purchases I ever made. Whenever the power goes out, it kicks on.

I never have to throw out spoiled food. But in my case it's because my house never has any food IN it.

Hurricane Isabel took our power down for about a week but we had a charcoal grill to cook some of our frozen food. We have thought about buying a generator but it would be a hassle. We don't have gas just electric.....until we don't. We charged stuff from our cars but we had to drive out of town to get a signal so we could tell friends and relatives we were ok.
I really feel for those who live through hurricanes. The aftermath can be very trying. Best wishes for you all.

Worked all day today-- hubby brought me to the University, and I worked my online shift while he worked in his office. UH was deserted, for the most part, since they closed for the week after the hurricane. Finally good news- the power is back on!! Hubby and I cleaned the fridge and freezer and picked up a few items to get us through the next few days.

Decided on doing a clean up of my desk. There was so much dust. Especially around the monitor. First time in a few years that I have unplugged it.

I heard a Shania Twain song on the P.A. at my store and it got me thinking.

Shania divorced her husband because he cheated on her.

WHO THE FUCK CHEATS ON SHANIA TWAIN? :wtf:

One of the hottest women on the planet, not to mention a kickass country singer, and he CHEATS on her? Does this man have a functioning brain cell in his head? What, and I cannot stress this enough, the FUCK?

If Shania Twain is not enough for the guy....geez. We're done here.

I was banned from donating blood today. I've donated 10 times in the last 2 years, 25 registered total, (but closer to 30, one trip didn't save, and trips from when I was younger aren't listed).
I'm O-negative, so every 2 months, they start pelting me with phone calls.

I never realized that with old age comes so much regular pain. I may not pay much attention to it during the day, but it's difficult to ignore at bedtime sometimes. If I have a good day, the next day I tear up my knee or wrench my shoulder. It's always something (to quote Roseanne Rosannadanna).

Ditto. First it was a bad knee, then a bad back, then arthritis in my hands....Hubby is going through the same thing: first one knee and now it's the other. Old age is not for sissies.

Fake Facebook account pretending to be someone I know requested to follow me. Asked someone who knows this person to report it, but they refuse to click on this fake account. What are you even afraid of? It’s just another one of millions of Facebook pages.

You are officially old when you've joined those folks sitting around the dining table at the extended family gatherings discussing their current ailments, treatments and surgeries.

You’re old if going to Home Depot to buy a toilet seat is considered a highlight of the week.

Being hacked, which is very common through these fake accounts sadly. My wife has to police one of our business pages for these frequently.
