Random Thoughts...or...What's on Your Mind?

Today is my 30th birthday, I understand Bashir now more than ever. But I'll try to remember Garak's words

Happy Birthday!
I vaguely remember 30.

Enjoy it while you can. Take chances. I wish I had enjoyed my 30s more.

I built a house in my 30s. It wasn't too bad. Though, that was just yesterday and I just turned 40. So, whatever. Age is just a number.

Happy birthday!

I know I posted a few times a while back about a couple of the horses I visit, and how I was concerned about the kind of care they get. They seemed like they were in a little better shape for a while, but now they're getting bad again, one even more so than the other. He's actually getting skinny enough now that his hips are really sticking out and getting pointy, and his ribs are starting to become visible.
Has anybody here ever been involved in reporting something like this to the cops/animal control?

No, but I report on other abuses in my state. From a brief internet search, it looks like the Sheriff has the power to enforce Arizona law, so they would probably be the best place to start. At least have the address of the residence to give them.

I've looked, it's our city cops that will handle it, I already saved their website with the phone number and all of that when I also reported them before.
I was more curious about what I'll be expected to do it I report them, like what kind of information I'll need, and how much I'll to be involved in whatever happens. Like if they take them away will I be able to find out where they're sending them, or recommend places, since I know a couple good rescues that might be able to take them? Will have to testify in court if it goes that far?

Bought something from Amazon that wasn't right. Went to return it and not only did they give me a refund no questions asked, but they told me not to return it! Does this happen a lot? Someone said that it's what happens when the cost of returning and processing the item is more than the cost of the item? Seems like it could lead to a lot of abuse.

Yes, I have purchased a few items of clothing from Amazon that were much smaller than advertised. When I went to return the items, I was instructed to take them to my local UPS store. They scanned the items, crediting my account. They told me I could keep them. They ended up at Goodwill . I guess sometimes it's cheaper for them to not pay for the return shipping and hassle of restocking.

I’ve had this happen maybe a couple times, so it does happen, although it does seem a little arbitrary when they want the item back, versus when they don’t.

Probably could, but also remember that Amazon will ban you if your returns are too high compared to your purchases.

Yup. Cheaper to replace it than process and ship it. They can usually get credits from manufacturers on return claims.

My mom is in the ICU. Her O2 was really low when we took her in. There's fluid around her lungs and she has shortness of breath. They said it's either pneumonia or congestive heart failure. My dad is really worried.
