As I'm in my late 40s now - there are times when I forget things like last night. Age is a fun old thing.
Star Trek ships designs are bound by too many rules
It's something that is becoming more and more understood by neurobiologists and psychologists. Executive functioning is the concept of focus, problem solving and attending to tasks. Those who are on the autism spectrum and those who have ADHD, among others, struggle with staying on task, or shift focus from task to task. One story of a gentleman illustrates this perfectly: he was mowing his lawn when he ran out of gas and his gas can was empty. So, he got his gas can, got in his car and drove to the nearby gas station. While there, he saw a friend of his. His friend was going out fishing and offered to take him along. So, the man left his car, his gas can, and went fishing. His wife was panicked because his car was found at the station but he wasn't.
His attention was on each individual task, and when one demanded his attention all others ceased to exist. One theorist I read called this the "tyranny of the moment." People who struggle with executive functioning feel very bound in the moment.
Now, that I have said all that please note I am not saying this is all you. Just that if you are it might offer some insight in to past struggles.
I don't like TV episodes where the conflict stems entirely from a one-dimensional bureaucrat you've never seen or heard of before being a total jerk for the sake of being one. You know the main characters will prevail and the bureaucrat getting a comeuppance won't even feel like much of a win because you'll never see this jerk again.
I feel like that is most villains in most TV shows that are episodic.
Not in DSC, they're not...
There don't seem to be ANY rules for 32nd-century Starfleet design. Those ships are all over the damn place. Hell, if they thought of making a ship that looked like a giant Pikachu they'd probably do it.
Now, I'm not saying the DSC ships are ugly. They're actually pretty cool. But they just look like they're weird for the sake of weird.
I welcome it.

That whole scene with Federation HQ flying at the start of the episode was pretty badass. Now that was a cool scene.

I'm not too familiar with a lot of this kind of thing when it comes to show business. I wouldn't presume to write off anyone's high-profile romance as purely a PR stunt. But, whether a celebrity romance is actually real or not, if the parties involved are media-savvy, then there is definitely some care put into the way the whole thing is presented to the public eye. NPR's "It's Been a Minute" podcast did this story a couple weeks ago: "Real relationship aside, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are 100% in a PR relationship."
Although this is arguably a fluff piece, NPR is generally not known for far-fetched speculative conspiracy stuff, and they interviewed a public relations expert here.

Also, it's surprising that our BBS seems to be completely silent on this concert movie. I know a lot of people look down on pop music, but this has been having such a noticeable impact on the movie theater industry (it's the top box office performer this month, by a wide margin) and has received critical acclaim.

Well, Swift's two lockdown-era albums from 2020, folklore and evermore, did put her on the radar of "serious" music critics and aficionados, as they were much different from the previous pop-heavy stuff, with a more "indie folk" type of sound and "singer-songwriter" type of vibe, and all that jazz.
The concert movie set a new pre-sales record for AMC, even beating out Spider-Man: No Way Home. The concert tour itself as well as the movie are a pop culture phenomenon at this point.

I have no comments to make about the movie but like that they did this. At least w somewhat original idea.
