Random Thoughts...or...What's on Your Mind?

A section of the store parking lot has an island strip with bushes and bark. This is not directly in front of the entrance, the "prime" parking. The part of this row that faces the store is mostly empty and I park there. When I get out, the whole row is completely filled, but the other side of the island remains empty.

Took me forever to figure out what these were called, glass retainer clips. But I need them without the knob that faces down. Any idea what I should be looking for?

I just realized that my Halloween username is really more appropriate for December. Well, at least it has "ghost" in it.

What are they used for?

I've been told not to leave my car registration in the car. I've also been told to leave in the car. What do you do?

I don’t leave mine in the car. I was told years ago by a colleague that if your car gets stolen, having your registration in the car just makes it very easy for them to fraudulently transfer ownership.

Of course these days, if my car were to be stolen, it’s much more likely to be driven to Montreal and then shipped overseas, so the ownership thing probably doesn’t matter as much. But habits and all.

I should put something in my stomach besides the popcorn and sweet vermouth I've been consuming while watching DS9 today.
Considering cooking a banana and sweet potato curry...

So what will you do if you get pulled over?

I mean, you can't exactly keep your registration in your wallet (that'd be even easier to steal than the car), and cops aren't likely to accept a photocopy.

You have to have the title to legally transfer ownership of the car.

In any case, just keep the registration locked in the glove compartment. Easy peasy.

That is actually what I do. It's in my wallet, along with my driver's license and proof of insurance... other things that I will need if I'm pulled over. When I'm in the car, then it's there in the car with me, as per the law, and when I'm not in the car, it's not.

This may be a jurisdictional difference? In Ontario, we only have the one thing.

Note that that linked government site itself tells you to keep the original somewhere safe, and that you can leave a copy in the car if you want.

And if your wallet is lost or stolen (which is much more likely than the car)? What then?

Just lock the glove compartment and be done with it. It won't permanently keep thieves out, but it will delay them long enough that perhaps it won't be worth it.

UPS handed my packages off to the post office to deliver today, and they were delivered by an Amazon van.
