Random Thoughts...or...What's on Your Mind?

Me, a Canadian, when Americans start talking about handguns:

To be totally honest, I didn't even have a clue what "S&W .500" referred to, before reading this follow-up post:

The .500 Magnum rounds it uses are the size of my little finger. The owner told me it's the world's most powerful production handgun. Just a huge shiny revolver.

I originally assumed it was something to do with the stock market... :shifty:

Do a lot of people blind buy movies? I don't usually spend money on a movie or TV show unless it's something I've seen and already know I like. The only Blu-Ray set I ever blind bought was the Heisei era Gamera trilogy, and that was only because I'd recently heard people raving about how good it was, and a 3-in-1 set was in the $5, and I worked there at the time, so I got a discount on top of that.

I used to, at least to some extent but not anymore. More likely to check out streaming now if it's available.

I was more likely to do it with films rather than tv box sets though it was usually due to cast I liked or premise that sounded interesting.

I guess I'm just to worried I'm going to end up wasting my money on something I'm gonna end up hating.

It happens, but I managed to mostly get away with it. The ones I really disliked I either tended to pass to the local charity stores, or on occasion, the trade in stores.

I tend to get Criterion Collection movies when I find them on sale, even if it's a movie I've never seen before (though I do a quick online lookup to see what the movie is like before I pull the trigger). And then even if I don't like it, chances are it will increase in value when it goes out of print.

I know the feeling. It has a nice aroma to it... just don't like the taste, or what it does to my system. Coffee and hard liquor are two things my guts just don't get along with.
can't say my guts have a problem with either

... why is there no cup of java emoji?

Sorry, this is incorrect. It's not even really close. Just Googling some numbers, it looks like there are almost 4.5 times the Starbucks locations in the US as there are Timmies locations in Canada. (Even if you take all the Timmies locations worldwide, there are still almost 3 times the Starbucks in the US alone.)

Now, if you are talking per capita, then yes: it looks like there are about 4.8 Starbucks per 100,000 Americans, versus 9.3 Tim Hortons per 100,000 Canadians, so not quite but almost double (-double ;) ) the Timmies per capita.

This, however, is factually accurate! ;) :D
double, double toil and trouble?

How did the horse die? Was it a set accident or some form of neglect?

PETA's pretty hypocritical. Yeah, get all those animals fired from their studio jobs and sent right to their kill shelters.

Went to see the movie 65 and we had to choose our seats from a chart like most theaters nowadays. My son and I and one other person were the only people in the theater and guess where this other person was sitting -- yes, in one of the seats we had paid for. We sat about 2 or 3 rows behind him and had a good laugh.

I read a couple other stories that went into more detail later.
It was early in the morning before they were shooting, and it died of cardiac failure. It had not been showing signs of having any medial issue before that, and the company it came from is know for their trainers always putting the animals welfare first. I can't remember the name of it, but it's highly respected company that has been in the buisness for 50 years and has worked on tons of high profile movies and shows like Game of Thrones and Wonder Woman. This is the first horse of theirs that has ever died during a production.

^ In regards - I have a few times. Generally it has been something I missed at the cinemas and it was something that I wanted to see.

I had a thought earlier - now have forgotten it. Maybe it is old age.
