Random Thoughts...or...What's on Your Mind?

Maybe... A sequel to E.T. that focuses on an adult Elliot, & it's a tie-in with Close Encounters of The Third Kind, that wraps up the 2 narratives into one alien encounter trilogy. The other focal character could be an adult Barry Guiler. (who's basically the same age)

They've both been independently invested, for their whole adult lives, in contacting alien life again. One's become an astronaut or chief at NASA & the other is the chief at SETI, & we find out that there's actually multiple types of extraterrestrials, which explains why we saw different types in the 1st film & yet another in the 2nd, & they've been reticent about coming back until now

Maybe you get Drew Barrymore to reprise, & she has children who are integral in what will basically be a final full on contact between worlds.

Meh... Maybe not lol

I like this idea and what do you mean we saw multiple types in the first film? I thought the aliens in Close Encounters were all the same species..

This would be a great movie if we didn't involve Spielberg but got another director.

So I work as a chat agent for a large company. Today, after talking to someone for about 15 - 20 minutes, I received this as we completed what she wanted, "Thank you very much. If you were real, I would tell you to have a good evening."
I am not sure whether or not I should be amused that I essentially failed a Turing test.

Well, I personally was never able to make sense of whatever the heck that thing was that came out first, before all the little bulb head dudes & even some of those dudes, due to the FX of the day, were just kids in costume, & didn't look the same as the one that signaled Lacombe, & of course E.T. doesn't look much like any of them really. So if you did a tie-in film that combines both, it makes more sense that it's several differing types.

But this guy? looks like a totally different creature

Well, you could get some guys who do homage type things already, like the Duffer Bros. I think they'd do a bang up job myself

Oh I see what you mean now. I remember that guy and wondered why he did look so different to all the others.. Maybe the small ones were not the "mature" version that he or she is.... Maybe that's the adult form and the rest are younger.

It also bugged me a little with the humans leaving so easy with the aliens, like what the hell were they going to be doing up there for the rest of their lives?

Now I really want a movie that ties both of these stories together. Did Spielberg ever say if ET and CE3K were connected in any way, shape, or form?

Also I wouldn't want him doing this because of his revisionism fetish like what he did with ET replacing guns with walkie talkies and changing other bits and pieces.

Originally, the actual intent was to have more than one type of alien be aboard, they just couldn't really afford or manage it beyond what they did, & it got left a little unexplained.

I never actually assumed he was leaving for the rest of his life. In fact, in my little idea, I think it would be neat if they got Dreyfuss to reappear. Like maybe Elliot & Barry try to unearth a coverup, & find him in hiding after seeing the recorded footage of him being interviewed by Lacombe... & some other footage of when he showed back up, some time later, but now it's many years later, & he's old & kind of miserable, because not only had he been silenced by the government, he'd also kind of become estranged from his family, after abandoning them. I think it would be neat if "Keys" (Peter Coyote) reappeared as well, as he was very invested in this too.

Not that I know of, but it really wouldn't be hard to draw the 2 narratives together imho, as both having been events that the government covered up.

Well, I love Spielberg movies, but clearly in his age, he's changed views too much for me. Indiana Jones & The Crystal Skull was proof enough of that for me to think someone else might be better at the helm.

My mom and I saw Nope this afternoon, and we're both going to be watching the clouds a bit more carefully for a while. I think this will do for clouds what Jaws did for the ocean.

Is that a movie? Is it good?
Yes, it's awesome. I asked my mom and she agreed with me that it is one of, if not the best movie we've seen all yes.

EDIT: My mom just came out and said it was second best behind Everything, Everywhere, All At Once.

Yeah, but I told my mom what I posted and she I shouldn't have posted that because it was a spoiler, and I thought if she did other people might too.

Cashier doesn't ring up an item and you don't find out until you return home, maybe you don't even find out for a few days because you don't look at the receipt. What do you do? If you take it back and try to pay for it, does the cashier get in trouble? Would it being a $2 item vs. being a $75 item affect your decision?
