Random Thoughts...or...What's on Your Mind?

Even so, I think pescatarian is about as far as I could go. Vegetarian maybe.

Can't help you with yogurt or cheese, but for me, sherbet is an OK substitute for ice cream. Fewer calories, too.
Sherbert has milk and cream in it.

Good luck with your endeavor, by the way.
Thanks.
It's not dinner unless something died for it.
I've seen to many cute videos on cows, pigs, goats, chickens, turkeys, and sheep to be able to talk like that . And especially not after I went to a local farm animal sanctuary and got to meet a whole bunch of cows, pigs, goats, sheep, chickens, and turkeys.

If I had to I could be vegetarian, but I have no idea how I'd eat tasty without eggs and cheese as options.

I wouldn't eat dolphins, whales or monkeys, but common food animals aren't sapient enough for me not to want to eat them. But, I might cut off producers of food that treat animals cruelly and become freerange only.

Dang, didn't know. Thought it was just principally fruit juices.

Yeah, I can understand that. Especially seafood. I just can't get overly empathetic about shrimp. I do try to limit myself to cage-free eggs, though.

I'd watch the movie Babe while eating baby back ribs, bacon, and ham.

Just had dinner and now I'm getting hungry again.

Just to be clear here, I am not trying to convert anybody here, I'm purely sharing my thoughts and opinions.

Yeah, like I said, I'm really struggling to convince myself to give up dairy so I get it. If you are actually interested in alternatives, my mom started eating Just Egg, a plant based egg alternative, and she really likes it. I can't stand the taste or texture of eggs, so I haven't even bothered to try it.

Just out curiosity, how much have you really been around, or seen pigs, cows, ect. on a regular basis? Because you'd be amazed at just how sweet, and how much personality cows have, and pigs are actually very, very smart. I actually didn't think all that differently from you until I started following sanctuaries like The Gentle Barn, Life with Pigs, and Arthur's Acres.
And I know we don't eat them regularly here in the US, but I actually had a similar attitude change towards horses too. For a long time I just thought of them as big dumb lumps that people just jumped on a told where to go, but they're actually pretty smart, and have tons of personality. And as of a couple weeks ago, I can attest to the fact that the give nice hugs.

I actually wasn't sure either, so I after I saw your post I checked some of the different brands' ingredients on Amazon and the Wal-Mart website, and they all have milk and cream.

Yeah, I can see where it could be harder to get emotional over fish since they're not cute and cuddly. I didn't really change my over them until the day I posted about giving up seafood, because I decided I don't want anyone to die for my food. And you have to be careful with cage free eggs, because even if they're cage free, a lot of them still live packed so tight into buildings that they can't really move, if you want ones that are actually outside wandering around you want free range. My mom and I are kicking ourselves, because the woman who ran the sanctuary we visited, actually sells her chickens' eggs, and we didn't think to get any from her.

For me a movie like that isn't quite the same as watching videos of these kind of animals and a daily basis, and especially after actually being out with the animals themselves. I realized I couldn't do it any more when I was looking at meat and the grocery store, and started thinking about all the animals at the sanctuaries.
OTOH, sorbet does not, if you are looking for a dairy-free option.
Yeah, we actually have a 2/3 eaten container of sorbetto in our fridge right now. But it's more of a frozen fruit thing, I'm looking for something that is closer to dairy ice cream that can make root bear floats, and things like that.
I've been eating a lot of the plant based "meats" and a lot of them are surprisingly close to the real thing. There's a few that I could easily see a meat eater eating, and never knowing the difference.

No, I see that. Veganism is a choice I will never make for a number of reasons (vegetarian, maybe), but I see this as a commitment on your part, not a crusade.

Believe me, I look forward to the day when we can produce plant based meats that are comparable to or better than the real thing.

While the current plant-based meat substitutes are getting better, they are not necessarily better for you. I think the true replacement will be the lab grown meat where just the needed parts are "raised."

You know, it just hit me:

Soldier Field has existed for a hundred years, yet the Bears only started playing there in 1971? What’s up with that?

There shouldn't be, I've seen many people link to Twitter here. Note that you can't embed Twitter posts or videos, but posting a regular link to them should be no problem at all.
lol <- that's the way i tried to post it, let's see whether it works now

edit: it works now - could it be it that links don't work in preview? they do in the updated version of this software.

They had played some exhibition games at Soldier Field starting in 1926, but their home field was Wrigley Field. There was another Chicago football team, the Chicago Cardinals played their home games there during their final season in 1959.

Well, I'm bad, I already broke my no seafood rule. Went to Panda Express for their Salt River Wild Horse Management Group fundraiser, and got their Wok Fired Shrim, which is delicious. But at least some of the money is going to help other animals, so maybe that evens things out a bit.

That's still good! If you slip up every now and then at least you're trying to achieve your goal. I heard something the other week in regards to weight loss that might be apt here too, that sometimes people will slip up and then go "okay i've screwed up, might as well give up" when in reality it's all just little triumphs each day.
