Random Thoughts...or...What's on Your Mind?

I've had the show on in the background off and on, and I did catch one scene were Jessica was at a trial, and the lawyer actually brought up the fact that murder seems to follow her around everywhere she goes, and that her family and friends are constantly suspects.
I agree they sometimes go overboard with that stuff and juvenile humor. I just don't think at least mainstream anime does it any worse than Western equivalents. Mass Effect invented a species of single gendered aliens who look like busty blue skinned women and reproduce with men and women of all other alien races. Their intent there is not exactly subtle. And women dressing for combat in Western entertainment don't exactly dress pragmatically.

If anything, the Western equivalents are better at denying that's what they're doing, and the Japanese version is just more honest about their intent.
.
I'm a big fan of anime, but I avoid the overly sexualized stuff. I've mostly watched stuff like Naruto, Bleach, One Piece, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood and Studio Ghibli's stuff, and most of them aren't to bad when it comes to the sexual stuff. There's a tiny bit, but most of it isn't too gross.

Just look at Jessica Fletcher in "Murder She Wrote"... death followed that woman around like Pig Pen's dust cloud. Even if she never killed anyone, she should have been locked up as a public nuisance or something.

Kind of like Monk. He can't walk down the street without a dead body falling on him that was cleverly staged to look like a suicide at the exact same time the killer was Skyping with the mayor.

395 murders in 21 years sounds high for europe - the us however ...

But in the US they'd just be boring shootings, not clever schemes to kill your identical twin and switch places with them.

I can't recall where I read it but someone suggested that maybe Jessica Fletcher was the killer in all her stories, she's just very clever at not being caught

At least with Monk, he was a police consultant, so for the majority of his cases he was specifically called in by the police to help the investigation. There were a few episodes where he stumbled into a murder, but it wasn't every episode like it was in Murder, She Wrote.

Granted, he always sneezed into it. ;)

Goes on vacation, Benji witnesses murder. Goes on plane, runs into woman who gets shot in the bathroom and replaced. Goes on jury duty, spots dead body in dumpster.

Yeah, I said he did accidently run into murders a few times, it just didn't happen as often as on Murder, She Wrote.

Yeah, it seems like TV cops/investigators just can't get away from murder. No matter where they go on vacation, and how hard they try not to get involved in a murder case, they always end up in the middle of one.
