Random Thoughts...or...What's on Your Mind?

I am livid! I have a tracphone from T Mobile and have had no trouble up to today. I paid for another month on august 3, and received confirmation that day that i'm paid for another month - until September 11. Then, today, my texts are not being sent or received. Some boob in their billing dept put a block on my messaging. I have tried all afternoon to get this fixed to no avail. Talked to 6 different people who are totally ineffectual. Techs who try to "fix" my phone, not the problem. I hate all of them. I am thinking very evil thoughts right now...while i wait for the promised call back number 6.
Uuugh. How irritating. Hope it gets resolved soon.

It's been roughly a year since an old online friend reached out on social media. Guess that it still bothers me a little why they did (and never made a real effort to reconnect after so long.) I doubt that I would've gotten a straightforward answer anyway if I'd pressed the issue. Although, it was better to step away and set a healthy boundary at the time.

I'm not usually in the habit to lurk on people's profiles, but it was public and I was curious to see if they'd dropped certain attention seeking behaviours that had pushed me away. Long story short is that they haven't which (1) assured me that the right choice had been made and (2) made me realise how much positive growth/change there's been in my own life over the last year.

It was a case of dodging another bullet with their reappearance. I realised that they really just wanted a fun, non commital 'friendship' again and that's not something I want or need. Not now or fifteen/sixteen years prior.

does anyone got some funky groovie stuff to recomend?
i recently discovered George Duke and got a couple tunes from him that i really enjoy,
i also bought a new pair of wireless JBL headphones and got a real kick out of that, wandring around in the streets with my own personal film-score blasting in my head was incredible fun.

anyway i have been googling around and found several "best-of funk/groove lists" and checked out stuff like
One Nation Under A groove, with the song Funkadelic.... you should think that would be a win based on the title
but sadly, that one didnt do anything for me....

i now really want to build a great collection of groovie stuff, so far i only go 5 :

George Duke - It's on
George Duke - from dusk to dawn
The Alan Parson Project - i wouldnt want to be like you
and.. Steely Dan - Babylon sisters

anyone got something along these lines i can check out?

edit... thats not 5..... i mean 4 FOUR (lights?) what?

@Captain pl1ngpl0ng : the smooth-groove type music was VERY big back in the 70s and 80s, the era in which I grew up.

Do you like Earth, Wind and Fire? They did some fantastic stuff. Jeffery Osbourne or Doctor Hook? My more recent favorite is Gregory Porter. He is considered "Jazz" --and I've never liked Jazz, but I really like him. He's sort of in the "smooth groove" genre and his voice is amazing. Songs like "Be Good" ( my favorite), "Holding On," and "Consequence of Love."

Thaanks so much auntiehill, let me check this out, "smooth groove" are excactly what im looking for.
i also grew up in the 70s/80s but it was stuff like prince, madonna, queen, simple minds etc that got my attention, its only now in my (hehe lol at that old smiley) old age that i really want to dig around in jazz/funk groovie stuff.
Thanks so much again for the suggestions, i will check it out!

oh Gregory Porter.... that was a surprise, what a cool dude!
i wouldnt call him strait Jazz, more jazzySoulRythmSmoothOperator damn what a voice!
i just watched Sting looking at him while he performed "It's probably me"....

@Captain pl1ngpl0ng : He is pretty awesome, isn't he? I discovered him on The Graham Norton Show a year or two ago.. He was talking about singing Nat King Cole, and I thought to myself that no one could do Nat King Cole justice. I looked down at my tablet, just killing time until it was over.

Then he began to sing.

My jaw dropped. Holy crap, his voice is beautiful.

"Be Good" is now one of my favorite songs ever, and his covers of the Nat King Cole songs are brilliant.

Cool stuff, to be sure!

Dr Hook...."Sylvia's Mother" is one of my favorite songs. It was written by Shel Silverstein and is very autobiographical in content. Sad story.

I don't know exactly what category The Royal Guardsmen fall into, but their Snoopy songs are groovy and funky, too.

Born in 1967, I confess. :ouch:

Yep! I didn't wait for my son. I sorted it out myself, finally. I found someone at the corporate office to unblock my phone.
Glad to hear. Hubs on phone with AT&T right now. Due to a mess up on their part my phone is being turned off and I will have to get a different number. So much fun. :scream:

Hope it’ll be better than Comcast. They once hung up on me after two hours on hold, because the office was closing.
