Random Thoughts...or...What's on Your Mind?

I've been thinking about the Parallels theory that everything that can happen, does happen, but in another universe.

This implies that there's a universe out there where every coin ever flipped has landed on heads.

So the people in this universe probably believe there is a magic force of the universe causing all coin flips to land on heads. But then, in the vast majority of these universes, coins will start landing on heads or tails 50% of the time. And they will think their God has abandoned them.

nah - it's just a universe where both sides of any coin show heads

Mostly, the so-called universe coin and what it ends-up to be... lands on the edge of the coin--thus life.-- Is extremely rare.

Third world from the Sun, how lucky is we?

I tried calling his name twenty one times, but seven iterations of Beetlejuice didn't show up.

:sigh:

For that matter, has anyone ever fucked someone's brains in?
Yeah, it's called CTE

More importantly, I have solved the problem of how to get rid of a song stuck in your head. The secret is to play it to completion. Think about it. It's only ever a part of it that gets stuck on a loop. So it's like OCD. Your brain is focused on it, because it's trying to solve the mystery of the rest. If you play the whole song out in your head, deliberately, & then immediately refocus your train of thought, you're mind will move on. I've actually pulled this off

So whenever I saw the phrase "Vasquez Rocks" I always assumed it was a reference to the character in Aliens.
That reminds me of the 1999 movie The Cider House Rules. I know "rules" in that context is a noun, but it could also be a verb: "The Cider House rules! All the other houses suck!"

I tried eating an apple every 8 hours, but it didn't kept three doctors away.

i said someone's not her - it works perfectly well with me
I was speaking in general terms, not refering to anyone in particular.

random thought: why have so many handy tools been taken off the market? I use a kitchen tool from my granny that holds lids so tightly shut that every ordinary pot can be used as a pressure cooker. My 40 year old tin opener opens every tin reliably - quite contrary to its currently sold descendants. And I've spent the last 90 minutes searching the internet in vain for a small grindstone with a crank like the one my dad used to have for sharpening small tools and pocket knifes.

Holy fuck, I'm tired. This getting up at 6:30 am crap really blows. :angryrazz:

But not getting paid would be worse, so I'm getting up at 6:30 am every weekend.

My approach for getting songs stuck in my head is to replace them with better songs. :)
That only sometimes worked for me. You can't always shake the 1st one. It sometimes comes back... & then there's the potential of getting another song stuck in your head, like trying to stop a bullet with another bullet

We should try to bring back old timey insults, like cad, cur and knave.
You have no idea how down I'd be for that, you rapscallion. The sheer amount of words that are synonyms for just that one are nearly mostly extinct... miscreant, ne'er-do-well, scamp, scoundrel, scallywag, reprobate, wretch. Geez, even fiend, fink, & rascal have fallen by the wayside. Lowlife is about the only one left you might still hear. Most of them have been replaced by things in bags. Scumbag, dirtbag, sleazebag, douchebag, etc... We really have gravitated to that bag of something imagery. It's pretty dumbed down imho

The same goes for idiot synonyms, like nincompoop

Scoundrel, I like that.

I have used almost all of those terms, elsewhere, to refer to a certain...so-called chief-executive.

It's propably only a small comfort but feel free to gloat :) You can sleep an hour longer than me. By the time you get up I'm already at my office or out sampling (time difference between our continents not considered). I start work at 6 am and get up between 5 and 5:30
Happy Oktoberfest, everyone.Ein Prosit, ein Prosit, Gemütlichkeit... :techman:
oops, is it that time of the year already?

oh dear - I really am a bit overworked.
atm I am frustrated, though: my library pc crashed (I use it to store my audiobooks etc). I managed to repair all damage to HDD1 which carries the OS (Debian Linux 8) However, HDD2 with all my files on it got dismounted and the computer stubbornly refuses to find it - it doesn't even show uo in the boot menu. It can't have been damaged too badly in the crash so that at least its physical presence should register and it does start - I can feel the vibration. I could repair it if I could mount it but how can I mount an invisible drive? It's utterly frustrating!
