Random Thoughts...or...What's on Your Mind?

I'm not a huge fan of the types of music that generally call for pedal steel guitars, but damn, this sounds amazing!

That said, I can find at least something in every genre that I can appreciate, if not downright love. :)

that's nice for you - i can't (and i'm not really sure i want to)

my music is more like that

i kinda think the stopped making music (besides jazz) after 1985 (and that requires a lot of good will on my part)

Hey, I love orchestral music (most of it).

I need to admit that I struggle to find jazz that I like.

Joke: Do you know why jazz was invented? As an excuse to play the wrong notes out of time!

^did you ever compare bach and jazz?

... or let a synthesizer loose on him?

got one that explains rap?

Oh, I struggle to find rap that I like, as well, but mostly it comes down to the lyrics. I actually don't mind the beat and rhythm of the rappers most of the time.

It's all subjective.

I love metal, too, but I hate sloppy playing. Not my favorite band and I despise the fact that they buried Jason Newsted's playing to the point of not being there (as a bassist), but "...And Justice for All" is my favorite Metallica album simply because of the precision and near technical perfection.

it's a classic :guffaw:

Yes, I know, but I like the synth version.

I don't know a ton of Bach and don't have any recordings, but I do like the pieces I've heard, as well as all of the classics, Beethoven, Mozart, Strauss, Vivaldi, Pachelbel.

More "modern" pieces, as well such as Copland, Holst, and Wagner.

As for synth music, one of the first records my dad ever gave me was Tomita's Kosmos and still listen to it to this day.

And then, of course, there's Vangelis and Yanni (Older Yanni, I don't care for his "newer" stuff for the most part. "Niki Nana" was the last album of his I really got into).

My bank likes to offer me $5 to switch to paperless. After they give me the $5, I switch back to paper statements. Then whenever they offer it again, I take it again and then revert again. Should I feel bad or not?

you probably want to ask your buddy paul revere

Well, if they don't notice soon, I'd start wondering whether I should trust this bank with my savings.

Indian-sounding people from a dodgy scam call centre, who claim to represent my broadband provider, keep calling me - obviously to try and defraud me in some way. Usually, I just put the phone down. What's a good way of playing them along and wasting their time? How much can I lead them a merry dance before they are likely to get a contract taken out to do me harm?

I teased a time share sales person for over 2.5 hrs by feigning interest but not quite parting with my bank details. Eventually I was transferred to his line manager who cut me off after a minute.

I congratulate myself with the knowledge that those 2.5hrs spent talking to me were saved some fellow humans being bothered by, or even snared by, the timeshare scam.

Timeshare. I mean, come on. Commit to paying for a lifetime of overpriced accommodation, that doesn’t include food or flights, but costs far more than an all inclusive holiday to anywhere? Fuck off.

A friend of mine sold his car to someone I know. The car was stolen two days after the transaction was done. Guess what my friend said to me? "I really dodged the bullet there, didn't I?" It's funny how people often make that kind of surrealistic assumptions like the car was fated to be stolen that day!

I was once called by a company to tell me that I'd won a time share. I had a hell of a time persuading them that I had no interest in paying them money every year for as long as I lived at some escalating rate of inflation determined by them. In the end, I had to write them a letter telling them to desist from trying to foist off this albatross on me. Interesting scam, that was...
