Random Thoughts...or...What's on Your Mind?

You can clean hard to reach windows on the outside using a magnet powered pad.

how about just opening the window - kinda the old fashioned way?
The $64,000 question is how did they get the outdoor pad out there? If you can do that, why not just wash the window while you're out there.
Because some people live in apartment buildings where you have a large window you can't open all the way. Some have a bottom panel that opens and slides over top panel. So it's not possible to get access to the top window to clean it while the bottom is open. In this demonstration, there's a large fixed window and a much smaller window next to it that opens slightly for ventilation.

hire someone and let them bother?

Most apartment buildings have a window cleaning crew, but they usually do the job like once or twice a year. What if your window gets dirty from a storm or bird poop not long after the window cleaning date has passed? Not much to do about it but wait until next cycle. Some people use a squeegee on a really long pole, but that presents challenges and if you drop it... danger to people below.

What freaks me out where I live are the grilles on all the windows. It does make cleaning the windows on the inside tricky but if there was ever a fire you wouldn't be able to get out a window.e

i meant of one of those 'infested' windows
This house is old, well by Aussie standards and everyone has security bars on their windows. When we first moved here it got me wondering if it was a high crime area but I think some door to door salesman made a killing selling them.

Agnosco Momento

I wish I'd appreciated the value of time much earlier in life (I'm now in my 50's).

There really is a gradual mental shift that takes place as you age. When you're young, your vision is incredibly myopic. Old age seems so very far away that although you know you're mortal, time seems so vast and full. We waste so much time when we're young, thinking we have so much leeway. It's only when you're much older that you begin to realize, this is not the case. Assuming an average age of 85, those years can go by very quickly.

Teachers and parents may tell you a little about this. I remember that speech about "squandering your time." But it didn't feel real. I expect that there's no easy way to get through to the young mind to appreciate it, because if there was we'd all know about it.

So I spent most of my life being in a mindset of always looking forward to the next thing, and not really being truly happy with who I already was, the people I know, and the things I have. I had the misconception in my mind that if you don't keep looking ahead, you're not driven to get anywhere. And well, that's not really true. Maybe you won't get there quite as fast, but you will get somewhere. Do we ever really think about what we'd do after we achieved some life long ambition?

There is that well known saying "Carpe Diem," seizing the day. But that implies exploitation, that you have to try to do everything you possibly can in one day. But I think there's a better phrase, "Agnosco Momento". Appreciate the moment. Be cognizant of the time, notice all of it. Take it all in. That's living. Not racing to some destination, but living in the moment.

Sorry, @Gary7 , you know how it is. Can't hotlink from Shopify.

IMHO, it made a good song, though.

No, but you know it's there!
would i have seen it in the first place? if i had a fixed wing in a window (that's what they are called here - our windows oben horizontally on hinges) i wouldn't stand behind the curtain staring out and searching for bird poop would i?
