Random Thoughts...or...What's on Your Mind?

As early as 2nd or 3rd grade, we were taught in elementary school that the first person you should love is yourself. Even then, this was a foreign concept to me and has remained so to this day.

I don’t know. Of the people that I have met that loved themselves, none have left a good impression.

What they were teaching was not narcissistic love and that you should trample on others, but that you should love yourself and not allow yourself to be trampled on.

Random thought:

After looking at one of the images I posted, if I were to maintain a perfectly dust- and cat-hair-free keyboard and desk/mouse pad, I would spend all of my time cleaning them.

what the..?! Someone is hammering and clanking and shouting around in the corridor! We are a state office - we don't do any manual (or otherwise efficient) work!
I think that noise is the perfect excuse for me to go home a little early today =)

eta: apparently we have a broken water pipe in the lab. Third time in a year - not counting 3 floodings caused by blocked toilets (well, in a State Office, what else can you expect but loads of shit?). I blame our new dept. for flood management: they attract floods, obviousely.

ROTF! Excellent point! I didn't consider that aspect.
Being a biologist, I should perhaps try and attract a few animals. A butterfly infestation or at least a few colourful beetles would be nice (though personally, I prefer Beatles over the latter). On the other hand, 2 years ago I was appointed Bavaria's topmost authority for aquatic flies (lady of the flies, sortof), so maybe I should rather go for a few hundred hoverflies and gadflies instead. Some have very pretty colours =)

Should I be concerned that the directions on the packet of my piece of rump steak advises to ensure it is thoroughly cooked. It’s not that I like it blue, but a bit red should be perfectly ok.

I dunno, in my area all meat has a sticker on the wrapping recommending that it be cooked to a certain temperature. Even the cuts that are best served rare.

IDK I sorta like me. But. Leaving my body. OBE has been the downfall of the love one self problem as I tend to go away, when I can’t deal with everything..and also punish myself when I’m bad,.. it .. never mind

Random thoughts. The highlander is going on a ride

When I was a kid it was getting other people to like me that was the problem.

I agree in principle self love is important, but this sentiment often gets invoked to excuse laziness, lack of effort or avoiding stressful situations that will pay out long term. Or to convince one’s self that critically looking at how they come off to others in order to improve one’s social acumen is some form of selling one’s soul.

same here. With both parents being teachers you're automatically the underdog. Your fellow pupils will bully you because you're the enemy's family and the teachers will bully you so that nobody can accuse them of treating teacher kids better than others. (And your teacher parents will use you to release all the hatred for their pupils whom they aren't allowed to beat, but that's a story for another day.)
On the positive side: with all that bullying and abuse you become a good fighter and rely on yourself in all situations. Handy for your later working life.
