Random Thoughts...or...What's on Your Mind?

Thinking about going to the shore with a flask of coffee and my writing pad.

Also thinking that I mustn’t forget the toilet roll again on the way home.

The first part sounds nice and I hope you were able to do it.

The second part...I hope you didn't forget to do that! Could get a tad...messy.

Yup. If you walk for more than 10 minutes to the west you need wellies. This evening the water was perfectly still, like a mirror, and a sea fog cut visibility down to about 200m, so you couldn’t see where the sea ended and the sky began.

Lucky you! :)

The closest beach is about one hour away by car.

The closest I live to a large body of water is about 2 hours away from Lake Superior.

I've only been in an ocean once and it was a cold, windy day with "No Lifeguard" and shark warning signs (in Portuguese). It was cool, both metaphysically and physically, but I don't think I'd do that again the way I did it.

I did walk out (far out) on a beach at low tide (not supposed to do that!) on the English Channel, but never actually hit the waterline.

So that means that at least you've traveled across the pond, then.;)

I have. Three times. Once in the early 80s, once in the mid-80s, and once in the early 2000s.

London, England to visit my mom's best friend from her hometown (married an English doctor) and was introduced to both Cadbury Eggs and Weetabix, then Spain (and Portugal as a side-trip to visit friends of the family I was staying with) and finally Northern England to stay with a Scotswoman I knew who hated everything about England but for some reason chose to live there. Hell, she frowned at the suggestion that I might buy a British flag trinket as a souvenir.

I've also been to Mexico, but even though I live about five hours from the Canadian border, I've never been there.

That's not bad!:)

Well, I hope you bought a souvenir anyway.;)

Please excuse my near-total ignorance, but could one of our UK members possibly tell me what kind of accent the woman in this video is using?

Not a Brit, but from Google:

"Hello and welcome! I'm originally from Lancashire in England and I moved to Berlin in 2012."

I spend my summer holidays in a little beach town called Bexhill-on-Sea (East Sussex, England). It's quite lovely, especially when there's fog rolling in from the sea. On very clear days, you can see the French coast from the beach. Your description reminded me a bit of that.
