Random Thoughts...or...What's on Your Mind?

I’m thinking about going freelance.

With tightened belt straps, I could make it work. And still have time to write, bake, nurture the kids etc.
In Sweden there are small-business gatherings organised by the councils around the country. The idea is that you go to those and network and help each other out finding work. I’m sure such things are organised in GB too. That way you could find work easier.

I have experience of working freelance. In Sweden there are companies that fix everything the government expects of you for a fee. It’s like being an employee but still have your freedom. Such companies even help you with what you need to get unemployment benefits at periods you don’t have work. Perhaps such a thing is possible in GB too? You should check it out!

Thanks for the advice. I hadn’t considered courses but it’s exactly what I need.

In some parts of my region, the most desolate, there is a dearth of roadsigns. So if you don't have a working GPS you could get lost and not being able to find your way for like seems forever. When I was a youngster, GPS wasn't invented yet and we went to a disco-club (then and there it was the thing to do) and it took us hours to find our way back. When I finally got to my house and my bed I dropped on it with all my clothes on and slept till noon!!! That's how exhausted I was by this interminable wandering.

I've been trying to figure out something from a couple of days ago. It relates to a band that I've seen perform live twice now. I touched on the issue of certain 'behaviour' from the guitarist in this thread back in December.

Anyway, I'm going to see them for the third time in May. I'm looking forward to it because it's always fast and intense. That's still over two months away and it struck me as weird but nice that they've now followed back on social media.

Not that I'm complaining. The gesture kinda came out of left field though. I'm not actively liking every post and commenting etc. There's no inner circle relationship. It's been pretty casual support over the last three years.

I've done what any music fan does and uploaded photos/vids after the gig and tagged them. It was flattering to be reposted twice. (In fact, they ripped my vid off my personal account the first time without permission, but then they gave credit to everyone's videos afterwards on the second tour. Which didn't seem that bad.) That's pretty much the extent of it. I've just spoken briefly to them after the gigs. That's it. No further communication until the next year. Nothing.

Then... I'm wondering why the guitarist really jumped off stage and performed side on to me. (Before anything.) Why she stood next to me a year later. Why I received the follow back three years later. It's made me rethink everything. Maybe even question it.

I discovered that they look forward to meeting their fans. But... I don't think the situation's that simple given the above. It strikes me as surprising that I've made some kind of impression out of a few hundred people who've walked up to the merch table. Or those who've shared/had reposted vids. Maybe the guitarist didn't know how to approach? Or maybe it's something else?

Who here wants to mentally punch anyone who jumps into an argument with random 'SJW' accusations?

Besides that it's one of the Fox News brainwashing terms, they think they can immediately discredit all discussion about race or sex issues by bringing up this pathetic label that accuses anyone who raises them of just being interested in being perceived as virtuous.

If you think somebody is overreaching and inaccurately raising racism or sexism arguments, fine, say that, and back up your argument with facts. Otherwise it's just pathetic lazy reactionism, and even worse, not even YOUR pathetic lazy reactionism. Pathetic lazy reactionism stolen from Fox News.

One of my email addresses would get junk mail once in a blue moon even though it's been out there on the data breach lists for years, and now suddenly it's getting multiple junk mail daily. I wonder what changed.

I was just outside and it sounds like there's a strong breeze flowing through the tree branches out there. The air is still and the trees are not moving an inch...not even the smallest ones. I looked around and I can't see a single clue as to what is making this noise.

^ This. This very much.

I sit in smugly superior judgement over anyone who watches Fox New and believes a word they say, anyway. I'm a bit of a snob that way.

We're coming back from all paper/plastic throwable things. I mean (Paper plates, plastic utensils, plastic cups etc...) it' bad for the environment and it's bad for us. We need to change our way of thinking.

My city is among the worst in the country for drivers and the studies back it up.

Today, I'm going around an extremely sharp turn and this driver turns left directly in front of me. I never saw her looking right once. If it hadn't been for the sharp turn, I would've been going faster and might've hit her.

So now I'm behind her and what happens a couple minutes later? She blows through an intersection where the traffic lights are out. Never slowed down once.

Then we reach an intersection where you have to stop to turn left or right but cross-traffic doesn't have to stop. And suddenly she becomes the most overly cautious driver in the world and takes forever to turn.
