I never quite understood the phrase "have your cake and eat it, too". What's the point of having cake if you're not gonna eat it?
I had an epiphany at some point, but my confusion was compounded because in Yorkshire, having cake and eating cake, is the same damned thing.I never quite understood the phrase "have your cake and eat it, too". What's the point of having cake if you're not gonna eat it?

How's that for random?![]()
Do you think their has ever been a little kid over all these years on the Trekbbs? I know it's against the rules but surely at least one of them broke those rules over the years and posted something or spammed or even lurked. As far as I know this has never been found out if it did happen.

the article said:Uber is safe to use because it provides users with their driver’s picture, license plate, and car make and model. Its two-way rating system helps with accountability, and any issues with drivers or passengers can be reported instantly using the app. As long as reasonable precautions are taken, you should be safe.
Uber states that they are "committed to safely connecting riders and drivers". They conduct multiple background checks on all drivers that they hire to make sure that they have a clean criminal record, as well as a clean record when it comes to driving vehicles. And they make sure that all of their drivers have required end-to-end liability insurance.
Both drivers and riders are registered in the Uber system, so there isn't as much mystery regarding whom one is picking up or being driven by. In addition, Uber has established guidelines for both vehicle and personal safety, so that both drivers and passengers can feel safe and enjoy their Uber trip together. Finally, Uber drivers and riders can rate each other, so abusive individuals are weeded out and removed from the system.
Thought for the day: Twenty years ago, kids were told not to meet up with random people they find on the internet, and never get in a car with a stranger. So what do they do now? They use Uber to call up random stranger on the internet to get picked up in a car......
Don't say "Uber" to my great grandparents because it reminds them of really bad memories, namely: "Deutschland Ist Über Alles.", something people heard a lot during world war II.
you're lucky! At my office they always have fire drills with artificial smoke and stuff. Highly annoying as the house needs to be aired out for hours afterwards which is rather unpleasant in winter at -20°C. Thank heaven our boss now forbid the smoke grenades!I'm at a fire prevention course at work. Extremely boring as I've heard it all several times before. One hour left!
I doubt it - they'd be bored to death by our talkDo you think there has ever been a little kid over all these years on the Trekbbs? [...] As far as I know this has never been found out if it did happen.
