Random Thoughts...or...What's on Your Mind?

On my mind this morning is a horrible dream. The old naked at work chestnut. But it just went on and on. And when I’d resolved my pants issue, I’d immediately be without pants again, not that anyone seemed to care. And my pants always seemed to be back in the middle of a very crowded place, a maddening impenetrable crowd.

Had this dream before, but this time a colleague appeared to be having the same issue. Wonder if they had the same dream?

^ did it fall in with a bad crowd?

My post from a FB group:

"Your Plastic Pal Who's Fun to Be With"

My cats' adopted mechanical uncle...I mean, my mom's vacuum needed resuing today. She called me from her cabin to tell me that her vacuum was stuck in her living room.

Oy...so this is the future.

Is there such a thing as too much Prog?

After a month long binge, I can confidently surmise "Nope"

Hugo - into the jazzy French stuff now
Prog is great. Not so sure about the jazzy French stuff.

Did you know Ian Anderson released a new album back in 2014 (Homo Erraticus), and has one coming out next year?

Good doco done by the guy who does Rock Family Trees

Plus on YT there's a 9 part doco called Prog Rock Britannia (abt 90 min long) which I think's pretty good.

And Rick Wakeman presented a doco called 'The Day Pop Went Epic', about concelpt albums. Very cool, and out there somewhere.

New post.

A study has found that all disk galaxies, no matter their size, take about a billion years per full rotation. Interesting.

So, it turns out that some people REALLY don't like being called out for wrongdoings. Sometimes, so much so that they'll, by their own actions, plow their minivans, head-on, into another vehicle in protest.

Another random thought:

I believe the timeline for the new show has been established, but since Kirk ended up in and dying Picard's timeline, I think it would be interesting for Picard to end up in Kirk's timeline (and dying?).

I just noticed something about DSC awhile back:

Every computer display on the USS Discovery has a toggle for day / night mode. So far we've only ever seen night mode.

(Apparently the whole ship is also set to BLUE mode. )

Pretty sure I've just solved the time travel "Paradox".

Suppose backward time travel were possible (which all known evidence points against), if you combine it with the "Infinite Universes" theory that says that each decision you (or anyone or anything) creates a new, parallel universe, the idea that going back in time and killing your own grandmother before you were born or stepping on a bug millions of years ago therefore wiping humanity from existence no longer creates a paradox. The moment you committed one of those acts you've created a new, parallel universe. You still exist in the universe you left, the one in which these things did not happen, you just now also exist in a universe that you would not have existed in. You've created and traveled to a universe that would not have existed without you.

No more paradox.

It's been pointed out to me that this has been brought up somewhere in the more recent Planet of the Apes movies (which I have not seen) and someone also said something to the effect of that this is exactly how it was explained in Back to the Future (which I don't remember), so I apologize. I've solved nothing.

I’ve seen the ‘You go back in time into another universe’ used really well (If you have read the webcomic Faans) but it doesn’t work for most sci-fi. Most sci-fi has people disappearing if the past changes.
