Random Thoughts...or...What's on Your Mind?

White Hot Chocolate is an awesome way to warm up on a cold winter day, like today. Only missing some marshmallows. Too cold to head to the shops to get some.

Profit is god that's all I can see about that one.

No offence intended, @Gingerbread Demon ! I just like the quote, so I hope it is received in the spirit it is offered! :) And this is a commonly confused term, so just wanted to share.

Wikipedia said:
Corporatism is a collectivist political ideology which advocates the organization of society by corporate groups, such as agricultural, labour, military, business, scientific, or guild associations, on the basis of their common interests. The term is derived from the Latin corpus, or "body".

As originally conceived, and as enacted in fascist states in mid-20th century Europe, corporatism was meant to be an alternative to both free market economies and socialist economies. The hypothesis that society will reach a peak of harmonious functioning when each of its divisions efficiently performs its designated function, as a body's organs individually contribute to its general health and functionality, lies at the center of corporatist theory. Corporatism, socioeconomically, is based on an organization called a corporation, whence it gets its name.

Corporatism does not refer to a political system dominated by large business interests, even though the latter are commonly referred to as "corporations" in modern American vernacular and legal parlance; instead, the correct term for this theoretical system would be corporatocracy. Corporatism is not government corruption in politics or the use of bribery by corporate interest groups. The terms corporatocracy and corporatism are often confused due to their name and the use of corporations as organs of the state.

(Unless I've misunderstood your point, in which case I offer my apologies.)

My mother feels the need to give her children unsolicited advice all the time and it's gotten to the point where she's giving advice that's the exact opposite of previous advice. You can tell her to stop but she won't.

The maximum amount of time the average person is willing to invest learning about any subject not critical to their interests equals the length of a feature film.

Another of my best friends passed away in his sleep yesterday. He had been in a care facility with advanced dementia for several months.

My sincerest condolences.
Passing in one's sleep is probably the most peaceful way to go, so at least there's that small mercy.

My mother is a serial advisor too. All well intended but she’s like Marge Simpson. “If they tease you they’re not your friend” sort of stuff. Lessons that sound good on paper but have no connection to real social dynamics.
