Random Thoughts...or...What's on Your Mind?

Some of these "tunnels" are prefabbed on shore and towed and sunk into place. Examples of the Hampton Roads bridge-tunnel sections are about halfway through this vid:

Me this evening: “I’m feeling fine after my first shot, just a sore shoulder. I’ll go work out.”

My body five minutes in: “Ahem. We’re kind of in the middle of running some pretty important training drills here. Do us a favor, get off that bike, sit your ass down on that couch and play some video games.”

I’ve already requested PTO to make Memorial Day a 5 day weekend and by then I will be fully vaccinated.

So I’m thinking I’ll take a real trip somewhere and just need to figure out what places in the US are the most tourist friendly by then. It’s probably too early to expect a proper New Orleans experience. Somewhere with a lot of good day hikes, and also the sort of unique restaurants and culture you don’t expect to be crowded but also don’t need reservations.

Ever been to Austin? Lots of outdoorsy stuff to do, a big foodie-culture, an active nightlife, etc.

Yeah I went to Austin once, but couldn’t enjoy it much cause I went the day after Christmas and got sick from a Christmas dinner buffet the night I arrived. Worth considering though dunno about temperature late May. First time was December for a reason. :)

Edit: Now that I think about, one of the big reasons to go to Texas is also one of the big reasons not to. Anti-mask sentiment. It would be nice to take a fully vaxxed mask break after a year of wearing these things. But Fauci still says that's bad even with the vax. Need to decide which outweighs for me.

Apparently Jeopardy viewers are fanatical too, losing their minds and acting like the world is falling just because they don't like the guest host.

fitbit map.jpg

cut the grass today- // set my fitbit to map my path-- yeah it can do that-- it might be that I missed a spot or two ? but in the application of cutting I did not miss anything and cut the same area's at times more then once as I could not tell If I had cut there or not.-- this is obviously not a structured linear type grass cutting but yeah --- the grass is cut in 41 minutes 3150 steps and yet no cardio minutes :( --- sigh.

I just read that the police in some states can pull you over for having an air freshener hanging from your mirror. Not sure why the fuzz want your car to stink, but apparently they do.

The cops don't really care about the air freshener. The law is only on the books to give cops a pretext for pulling you over for driving while black (or latino), getting you out of the car so they can look around inside, arresting you if you have an outstanding warrant, and intimidating you into letting them conduct a full search of your vehicle. In the case of Daunte Wright, they wound up shooting him.

And his killer is behind bars, and rightly so. But that doesn't explain why such a law would exist in the first place.

jim crow?
Things hanging from the rearview mirror can obstruct the driver's vision. New Jersey's laws could consider electronic toll collection equipment, such as E-ZPass transponders, to be a violation of their laws.

There are also laws that vary by state regarding window tinting. For example, California has no restrictions on tinting of rear and rear passenger windows, front passenger side windows must allow 70% of visible light to pass, and the front window can only be tinted for a few inches along the top.

While California requires 70%, New Mexico is 20%, almost the opposite of California.

Happy motoring!

I believe she is currently out on bail, pending outcome of the trial.

I watched the cop-cam video of the incident. I think that the kid was partly to blame for fighting a cop, the cop was partly to blame for using the wrong weapon, and the department is partly to blame for piss-poor training. It shouldn't have happened.
