I can sympathise being Scottish. A few months back, a lot of people in the region lost their belongings and homes due to freak rainfall/flooding. The railway tracks elsewhere were affected too.

There's water on the Moon.... Just something random
4 drought years in a row over here. Ground water levels are 1 year deficient and falling. My town had 21 days with rain (counting spray, too) all year.
The forecast predicts a bit of rain for the weekend, though. =)

I don't know how I feel about this. Target was offering a "spend x much y times by Oct. 27 and get z in credit to spend" Circle deal (how much you have to spend, how many times you have to buy and what your reward is varied from member to member) and I had placed some preorders that weren't shipping out by Oct. 27. And I was only getting credit for the purchase if I bought it online instead of in-store after it's been mailed out. So I talked to a customer service rep about it who seemed to know exactly what I was talking about and he gave me a refund for what I would've gotten like it was no big deal, which I wasn't expecting. Well now that the window is closed, it turns out they're giving me the reward to spend after all. I know they'll just let me keep the refund if I try to talk to them about it, so should I even bother?

My brother and his wife had a small outdoor Halloween thing today. Now, they are both extremely stressed out right now. Working terrible hours as LNAs (Licensed nurse assistants) with two kids.
When I went into their apartment just to use the bathroom, I pet their cat and it was the boniest cat I ever pet. She wasn’t like that pre pandemic. There was a smell of cat urine in the entire apartment and it looked like the litter box hadn’t been changed for a while.

Depends on how close you are to them... I'd try and find a way to approach them without it blowing up in your face.
I see them like every other month. Mom sees them more. Maybe the best strategy is to mention it to her.
