Random Actors in Conventions

Went to a local comic/pop-culture convention this afternoon where I got to meet and see a handful of pretty well-known actors. Glenn Morsehowser (Aaron Pierce in 24, as well as many cameo roles in 24c-Trek series.), James Tolkan (Strickland in the Back to the Future movies) plus Walter Koeing and Denise Crosby. Had my picture taken with Denise. (I'm often critical of her and her decision to leave TNG and trying to worm her way back in in the aftermath. But, still, she's a nice lady and I did like Yar's character.) On top of that I met "The Cinema Snob" web personality.

There were many other celebrities and such at this con, interesting and fun time. Walter was sort of quiet and closed off, the interaction I had mostly took place with the guy doing the transaction. Walter asked me for my name, etc. and I just said it was a pleasure to meet him and I was a fan of him in Trek.

Glenn was a very nice man, open, and chatted with him for a good long while. Same with Denise, very friendly and warm. It was neat to see her and Walter talk for a bit too.

Autographs from Glenn, Walter and Denise. Didn't get the autograph from Tolkan as at that point I was out of money. But I shook his hand and told him I was a fan of him and his work.

I met Walter this year (I think) and he is quiet and seemed quite exhausted which is not surprising considering the length of the flight and his age. It was a privileged to meet him though. I had a Bester photo signed as I loved him that role.

Yeah, he seemed pretty tired which, yeah, isn't too surprising given his age. It was also a small ballroom with a LOT of people in it between the vendors and the attendees. Seemed like a real nice guy, though.

Walter Koenig was probably exhausted because yesterday was his birthday, just the other day he received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and this:

Is the look of a 76-year-old man who wishes so very much that his son were still around for it.

Yeah I was gonna say. With the way he lost his son, I wouldn't blame Walter if he was bummed out for the rest of his days. That he can still carry on and make public appearances at all, hey good for him.

Didn't know Walter Koenig was that old.. and the reason is that his character in Trek was supposed to be in his late teens early twenties but he must have been just over 30 when they cast him in the part.

Hey, I've no blame towards Walter being tired or whatever. It was just a pleasure to say "Hi" to him and meet him in person.

I met Koenig at a Disney show, a couple of decades ago. We didn't chat. It was a room-hop and he was visiting with the people whose room it was.

FYI, a "room-hop" is when collectors and traders staying for the show open their hotel rooms for selling and trading of the collectibles. It used to be more fun, but everything's now more "business" than trading.

Yes, that kind of tragedy can have quite an effect on a person.

I met him long before that, about 20 years ago at a convention. He teased my then girlfriend for acting like she was tired from being in the autograph line so long. He said his jetlag was much more exhausting than her 30 minutes in line.
